Tuesday will be a big day for PS3-owning FPS fans who have forsaken the corporeal confines of physical media, as well as classic fighting game kids and the eighteen people that still remember Future Cop: LAPD.

Battlefield 3
, Darkstalkers 3, Bejeweled 3, The Cursed Crusade, Grease Dance and Future Cop: LAPD will all be available on the PlayStation Network this Tuesday, April 24, according to the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast. This also means we still live in a world where Grease Dance is a perfectly acceptable name for a video game, which means we've haven't been tampering with the past nearly hard enough.

The Cursed Crusade is Now Available in North America on Steam.

Set against the backdrop of the Old World, two adventurers--both seasoned warriors--will quest across a Western Europe ablaze with the turmoil of a newly begun Fourth Crusade. Denz, a holy Templar, and Esteban, a roguish mercenary, may have different origins, but their motivations are the same: amidst the danger and despair of a new Crusade, to find the means to deliver themselves from a terrible curse that threatens to consume their immortal souls.

Sorry, we couldn't help but notice that your watch is a few minutes slow, there. See, you're currently fifteen minutes behind our chronometer, which shows -- accurately, we might add -- that it's co-op dude-stabbing time. We suggest you correct your watch, and indulge appropriately in the recently released Xbox 360 demo for Atlus and Kylotonn's The Cursed Crusade.

We suppose there are a number of games you can play to stab cooperatively, but really, aren't all of those old hat by now? Cursed Crusade's not old hat, thought it may be a little old sugarloaf helm.
The Cursed Crusade pushed back two weeks to October 25

Better sheathe that sword and oil up your armor or whatever it is you do to keep armor clean and operational: Atlus has announced The Cursed Crusade will be arriving on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC two weeks later than originally intended. The new launch date is October 25. This is where we'd make a joke about curses but that's too obvious for us. But hey, at least it's still a budget title, so that's something, right?

The Cursed Crusade takes place in the Middle Ages during the titular Crusades -- the fourth one, to be exact. Two cursed individuals, Denz and Esteban, are fighting to save their souls from the Templar's Curse, which threatens to "accelerate their descent into hell, burning their humanity away as it engulfs the space around them in demonic flame."
The Cursed Crusade Delayed, But Trailered

Atlus’ fancy-lookin’ medieval melee-combat game The Cursed Crusade has been delayed until October 25th. I have to admit that I’m definitely interested in playing this one as the swordery looks just right. That said “looks” just right could be very different to the actuality when we get our hands on it. The output from devs Kylotonn Games has, let’s face it, been a bit variable.

A fresh story trailer below sets things up for us, and it features a lot of unsmiling men in armour, doing their thing, as well as some demons.(more…)

Historical titles offer a bit of a conundrum to gamers. On the one hand, there's something to be said about being able to play within the confines of events that actually happened. On the other hand, however, it's easy to get pigeonholed by those events. So when I sat down to play The Cursed Crusade today, a game that takes place during the brutal events of the Fourth Crusade, I wondered how the game would work around its rather dark subject matter...

The Cursed Crusade has not one but TWO vicious templar thugs for you and a chum to control as you do some fancy crusadin’. What this means is that you can team up for takedowns: one guy locks swords with an enemy while the other puts an axe in his rump, that sort of thing. Kylotonn and Atlus have released a video to demonstrate this, and while it’s actually a video of the split-screen Xbox version of the game, the principles of online co-op on the PC will be much the same. That means dudes getting axed, in a co-operative fashion. I like the cut of it.(more…)

Atlus PR and sales bard, Aram Jabbari, describes The Cursed Crusade as "a story of salvation and survival" set during the often unpleasant Middle Ages. "The game's main characters are not heroes; they're just men, susceptible to temptation, easily made to feel doubt and despair," Jabbari says, plucking a string (but in like, a sinister way). "The raw, gritty accuracy of many of the game's historical locations is sharply contrasted by Denz and Esteban's supernatural struggle to save their souls. Their affliction, the Templar's Curse, threatens to accelerate their descent into hell, burning their humanity away as it engulfs the space around them in demonic flame."

Apparent non-comedy troupe Denz and Esteban star in The Cursed Crusade, a new third-person action-adventure game coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It looks to be heavy on the melee combat, with Atlus and French developer Kylotonn (see: Speedball 2) promising a wide variety of weapons and ways to inflict critical flesh wounds. The curse that threatens to overwhelm Denz and Esteban also seems to grant them supernatural strengths -- including the anachronistic ability to fight cooperatively over the internet.

Join Denz and Esteban on their violent tour of Medieval Europe in Summer 2011. Bring your demonic flame-resistant dalmatica.
