Kongregate now hosts downloadable, free games, as well as its standard fare of browser-based titles. The first three downloadable games on Kongregate are Super Monday Night Combat, Bomb Buddies and Smashmuck Champions, all available right now.
Kongregate will drop more downloadable games in the "coming weeks," and they are all integrated into existing social services. Players must sign into Kongregate to launch the games, and each one now available earns players 10 points.
"Our players are looking for increasingly sophisticated games," says Jim Greer, Kongregate CEO and co-founder. "Adding downloadable titles brings a new level of gaming to hardcore players looking for high-definition graphics with more options and content to select from."
What previously set Kongregate apart from digital distributors is its focus on in-browser entertainment. Now it's inching closer to Steam territory, but still has its own flair in offering only free games for download. It's kind of like a tomcat slowly slinking into another's alleyway, and now we just wait for the hissing to begin.

• Added the ability to purchase turrets via hotkeys.
• Moneyballs will no longer take damage from any source if there are two base turrets nearby.

It’s all the absurdly large-scale mechanized warfare you’ve (probably) known and loved since the late ’90s, but now you can zoom out into space, build a fort on an asteroid, and then crash it into an enemy planet. So basically, total insanity. As free-to-play games are constantly changing, traditional reviews can't really do them justice, so Joystiq relies on a series of unscored review diaries to record our experiences with them. Today brings part three of our Super Monday Night Combat diaries. Read parts one, two and three if you haven't! Monday Night Combat fused class-driven warfare with tower defense in 2010, heavily focusing on frenetic, fast-paced combat. While Uber Entertainment meant for the game to favor teamwork, the mechanics and character balance allowed players to eschew teamwork for lone-wolf play. Monday Night Combat was still a fun endeavor, but Super Monday Night Combat and it's methodical, team-oriented gameplay is what Uber Entertainment meant to unleash the first time around.
To quickly recap, Super Monday Night Combat has teams of pros escorting A.I. bots to the enemy "Moneyball." The first to destroy the opposing Moneyball wins. It sounds simple, but players have to watch out for giant chickens, murderous mascots, and weather controlling blimps, all while defending turrets from relentless bot waves. While MNC nailed the campy, satirical tone - with its characters poking fun at consumerism and the spectacle of sports - SMNC improves on this by adding more original character classes. In addition to archetypical classes like "assault," essentially the traditional soldier class, we also have zany choices like Leo - as in the actual Leonardo Da Vinci.
These classes are not only better balanced, but designed to fulfill specific roles, such as the position-holding defenders and the player-harassing commandos. These roles work with the overall design mandate of the game, which encourages players to work together and focus on the objective.

The key to winning in Super Monday Night Combat - aside from teamwork - is to play to your character's strengths. While customization options such as endorsement slots and products help tailor characters to different styles of play, each character is still married to overt roles.

We at Uber Entertainment hope everyone in the United States had an enjoyable, safe, and restful Memorial Day! We did, which results in a shorter week and a slightly smaller update.
This week we are taking aim at improving our match quality. The big step we're taking is that teams of five are only going to matched with other teams of five. Teams of two or solo players will be matched together. This means that we've removed the ability to group up in teams of three or four. If you only have a team of three or four, what better way to get to know your fellow players than to invite them into your team?

It's time for Turbocross! Our first new game mode has arrived for all you who want to try much faster, less strategic gameplay. The Rules Have Changed! Turbocross features rebuildable turrets, faster movement, higher lethality, and no passive power improvement with level. The objective remains the same as Super Crossfire; push bots, destroy the Moneyball!

We're also introducing more fan inspired content! Mustaches are now available as flair. There is a new slot of flair that goes on Pro's heads so you can mix and match your staches with your chest flair. We'd love to see pictures of your Pro creations!

It's time for Turbocross! Our first new game mode has arrived for all you who want to try much faster, less strategic gameplay. The Rules Have Changed! Turbocross features rebuildable turrets, faster movement, higher lethality, and no passive power improvement with level. The objective remains the same as Super Crossfire; push bots, destroy the Moneyball!

We're also introducing more fan inspired content! Mustaches are now available as flair. There is a new slot of flair that goes on Pro's heads so you can mix and match your staches with your chest flair. We'd love to see pictures of your Pro creations!

It's new map week in Super Monday Night Combat! Gun Mountain has been added to the map rotation. Gun Mountain features a new hazard: The Shelly Cannons. They are the giant guns of Gun Mountain. They cost $750, recharge every 2 1/2 minutes, and will shell the enemy half of the map.
We are also launching our first set of Flair! Flair are small pieces of... well... flair that you can place on your Pro. Currently only a chest slot is available but we will expand the system in future updates. Check it out!

As free-to-play games are constantly changing, traditional reviews can't really do them justice, so Joystiq relies on a series of unscored review diaries to record our experiences with them. Today brings part one of our Super Monday Night Combat diaries. In the future, the American dream is a crowd cheering a brutal battle for cash, prizes, corporate endorsements and bacon. Can't have the American Dream without bacon, after all. At least, this is the world Uber Entertainment has created in Super Monday Night Combat, the follow-up to 2010's (regular) Monday Night Combat. The premise is still the same: Opposing teams of 'pros' must escort regularly spawning A.I. bots to the enemy Moneyball, first team to destroy the enemy Moneyball wins. Bots are the only thing that can take a Moneyball down, but they have to survive through a staunch line of turrets, vicious arena bots and of course, several classes of aggressive (and perhaps insane) opposing players.
These classes all have special skills and abilities specific to their role, from the whimsical, Italian support class who can heal and place defensive turrets, to a giant gorilla in a pinstripe suit that can hurl flaming barrels. There's a mascot that can be beaten, shot and otherwise maimed for power-ups, announcers trying to sell products to the audience, and a weather-controlling blimp that can turn the tide of an entire match for the right price. All typical sport stuff, really.

Super Monday Night Combat developer Uber Entertainment has been working long hours the past couple of weeks since the premature distribution of its free-to-play MOBA. With a small break in the madness, we finally got Super MNC Executive Producer and Art Director Chandana "Eka" Ekanayake to answer a few of our questions about how the early launch happened and what's next for the game.
"The reason for the early launch was because we messed up on beta invites to a large pool of original Monday Night Combat players. To test out our server infrastructure, we wanted to send out a massive invite wave to players of MNC on PC. Players received a notice saying that they were accepted into the beta but actually weren't," Eka told Joystiq over the weekend. "So, instead of making players of our first game happy, we managed to deliver something that wasn't there and made them feel like they were lead on. We tried fixing it, but it just lead to more confusion, so working with Valve we decided to set the game open. It wasn't an accidental leak by any means but it was a result of us trying to make things right with our player base."
Eka didn't share raw numbers on how many players have signed up for Super MNC since launch, but says the studio is "happy" with the turnout, especially since they didn't have any lead time to market the game. He feels many folks don't realize the game is out ... or that it's free. Asked if any of the marketing for the game was disrupted by the early launch, he matter-of-factly stated, "Yes, all of them."@me.com>

This is the last week for PAX East 2012 uniforms and TF2 throwback gear!
It's the Rule Changes of Iroquoi county. Once you've seen one Rule Changes, you haven't seen them all.
This week we really focused on the player experience of getting into a game. We've made the process of getting into a game by yourself or with friends much more clear. We've fixed some issues that caused certain players to queue much longer than they should. This should improve everyone's speed and chance of getting into a good game!

• Featured items are now listed on the main menu.
• Reworked the Accept/Confirm game dialog to display over top of everything. Fixing the issues of not getting that dialog when a game is ready.
• Quickmatch has been split into Solo, and Build Team for easier usability.
• When a player taunts after killing someone, the dead player now sees the entirety of the taunt with a special taunt camera.
• Custom Game menu now includes team-icon check boxes.
• Custom Games can now be started with only 5 players.
• Opposing player name plate level number is now orange if they are 2 levels higher than you.
• Improved the look of the skill upgrade menu.
• Added option to disable the control hints above the skill icons and on Juice.

Rule Changes 29! You said it wouldn't hurt but it does...
You gave us feedback, we listened! You didn't like Uber Points, we removed them! All former Uber Point unlocks are shown via a dollar amount. Foreign currencies will be calculated when the purchase is made through Steam. Any Uber Points you have left over can be used as store credit. The conversion rate gives the best dollar value for players based on the old Uber Points scheme. What better way to check out the new, straightforward unlocking than with our new bundles?
Along with several balance changes and new weapons, another big change this week is "Classic" weapons. We are introducing rarity to our items by making some of the weapons that were purchasable last week "Classic" and removing them from the store. They are still currently available through the Prize system... for now.

It's a monster, huge, amazing update this week. We have taken all the uniforms and split them up into head gear, torso gear and leg gear! You can now mix and match parts of uniforms to your liking. These gear parts are also added to the Prize tables so you might get a gear piece for a post game Prize! Check out the system with an awesome new Assassin uniform called "Stab Demon". This tech also allows us to finally grant the "Throwback MNC Veteran" uniforms to anyone who owned Steam MNC before Feb 29th, 2012. Don't worry, this isn't the final cut off, but this lets us flex the system before setting the final date.
We are also introducing a new test version of our matchmaking system! In the "Play" menu you can click on "Matchmaking Test". It does not currently support teams. You can opt-in to multiple regions. Matches might take a little longer to find due to the complex nature of trying to get you a well matched game. Feel free to give it a test run and leave us feedback!
Finally we fixed up large group of annoying bugs, improved performance in several areas and started using a new patching system that should reduce future update sizes.

Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at Uber Entertainment! We have released an entire set of Valentine's Day uniforms and taunts. Awesome taunts that come complete with props and effects. Show off the love you have for your own skill level to the person you just fragged!
We have some amazing, new, large systems we're working on internally so the balance and feature changes are slightly lighter this week than most weeks. The Tank underwent some weapon rework, somewhat returning both weapons to previous functionality. ProTip: Get up close and personal with the Tank! We also did some adjustments to Assassin grappling, improved sharpshooter rifles and continued the range normalizations we've been doing for a few updates now.
