Sacred 2 transported PS3 gamers to the fantasy realm of Ancaria for dozens, or sometimes hundreds, of hours when it was released back in 2009.

A few years have passed in our world, but for the lands of Ancaria it has been ages! History has turned to legend, old landmarks turned to ruin, and a new evil in the form of the Ashen Empire has shattered the peace that once was. It is a new era, and a time for new heroes to rise up and fight together.

Today, we’re happy to finally show you a glimpse of the next chapter in the world of Ancaria: Sacred 3.

Sacred 3, the newest installment in the saga, is an action-packed Hack ‘n’ Slash game focused on co-op gameplay. You and a friend can choose any hero and use unique skills and co-op combat arts to defeat hordes of enemies and take on epic boss encounters. The game supports seamless drop-in/drop-out multiplayer for two players to fight in co-op offline, and up to four players online over PlayStation Network. But be careful, your partner also is your biggest rival for the ultimate goal; to become the greatest hero of all.

Not much of a co-op player? Don’t worry, the game is designed for both co-op and single-player fun!

You can play as one of up to five characters from Ancaria’s different cultures: Safiri, Khukuri, Seraphim, Ancarian, and the Malakhim. If you played the side-scrolling beat ‘em up spin-off Sacred Citadel, which was released on PlayStation Network last year, you may recognize some of these classes already! However, the Malakhim are entirely new in Sacred 3. No one really knows where they came from or when they first appeared. Rumors started spreading about dark assassins decimating Ashen troops in remote areas of Ancaria, and tales about their heroic origins unfolded…

We hope you liked this first look at Sacred 3 in action! Stay tuned for more news — we’ll have it here on PS.Blog, on our official page, and on our Twitter. Sacred 3 will be released for PlayStation 3 this summer.

I was at the UbiSoft event where Child Of Light was revealed. It’s the first time I’ve ever been at a press event where an informal queue formed, and the press were ignoring other demos to wait in line to play it. They waited for hours: friends who joined the queue would accost me as I passed* by, begging me to go on a buffet run for them. I’m honestly not exaggerating. Whatever held them in place that day wasn’t the game, really. It looks like a 2D platformer thing: there’s wandering, it has puzzles, and it has co-op; but the art and atmosphere seemed to reach out like the aroma of a cartoon pie, beckoning people in.

The new dev diary below explains a little about how that came to be, with Ubisoft attempting to capture the essence of a living painting by creating development tools that supported their artists and animators. … [visit site to read more]

Titanfall for Xbox 360 is receiving a two-week delay. Originally scheduled for titanfall on March 25, the game will now be ready for pilots on April 8 and April 11 in North America and Europe, respectively.

"We see a few things that can be made even better, so we're giving Bluepoint a little more time to do just that and deliver an epic Titanfall experience for Xbox 360 players," said EA's Patrick Soderlund in an official post. "The game will feature the same 6v6 gameplay, maps, modes, weapons and Burn Cards as the Xbox One and PC versions of the game."

We should note that we've yet to see or touch the Xbox 360 version. The Xbox One version is pretty fantastic. [Image: Respawn]

Linux is like the “unattractive” person in a movie who eventually becomes desirable just by hanging about for a bit. People were all over Windows, cooing over its icons and ease of use and the way it could form a cherry stem into a mobius strip, while poor Linux was in the corner, smelling of penguin puke and requiring root access. But Windows starts BSODing on a night out, and we then realised that Linux is actually Paul Rudd. Which exactly explains why GOG is about to support Linux.

It’s early days, but the plan to support Ubuntu and Mint (and probably others), starting in the coming Autumn. GOG expects to launch with at least 100 games, though we won’t know what they are for a while.

Sound the unexpected announcement alarms and check to make sure over-jerked knees are covered by your insurance plan. Paradox has announced that it’s publishing Obsidian’s notoriously independent old-school RPG Pillars of Eternity, a big, (not, by most definitions) bad publishing type dipping its pinky toe into the brave new world of Kickstarter. “…Er, why?” You might ask. “Also didn’t Obsidian get oodles of cash from backers? What happens to the game they paid for if Paradox decides all bets are off?” Well, good news is, Paradox can’t actually do that. I quizzed Paradox CEO Fred Wester and Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart about their new partnership, creative control, what this means for backers, why the two companies struck a deal in the first place, whether Paradox is interested in pursuing other classic RPG revivals like Torment, and how South Park ended up glitchy despite Obsidian’s allegedly renewed QA efforts. It’s all below.

I was less than thirty seconds into the trailer for Echo Of The Wilds when a quivering sense of outrage overcame me. The scenes in the trailer alternate between mysterious, peaceful, beautiful and spooky, and it was the combination of these things gathered together that caused me to flip the desk over, bellow an obscenity and snap a pencil in two.

The source of my fury was obvious – why the hell has nobody told me about Echo Of The Wilds before now? I was sure that a search of the archives would reveal that John or Graham had already have nodded in its direction approvingly. Not so. Well, take a bloody good look because it’s a gorgeous and mysterious wilderness survival adventure and it’s OUT NOW WITH A DEMO AND EVERYTHING, FER CRYIN’ OUT LOUD.

Jim was so taken with the robotic land-grab MMO Perpetuum that he wrote the world’s bestest diary about his time in it. It was spread over five months, which just goes to show how much it grabbed him. That was in 2012, and the game is not only still around, but is about to land on Steam. With a potential pile of new customers, the developers have taken the decision to shift from a monthly subscription to a one-off payment of 28.99 USD/EUR that’s “augmented with optional in-game purchases of previously unavailable services and cosmetic upgrades.” Hmm.
