DICE isn't keeping PC marines on standby for the latest Battlefield 4 content as long as expected. The delayed "Naval Strike" DLC was projected to hit PC sometime in early April, but the studio announced it's rolling out on the platform today for the shooter's Premium members. DICE originally delayed the content because it was concerned about potential performance issues on mid-to-high-end PCs.

Naval Strike introduces new maps, weapons, gadgets and assignments to Battlefield 4, as well as a hovercraft vehicle and a brand new Village People rhythm mini-game. Okay, we made that last one up, but it really does introduce a new Carrier Assault mode in which teams do battle and try to sink each other's aircraft carriers. [Image: EA]

The first thing I remember from Push Me Pull You isn’t even the game itself. It’s laughter. I’d heard about it all week during GDC, and I finally witnessed people playing it projected on a ceiling at the Unwinnable House. They couldn’t stop giggling. It came in bone-shivering writhes and ribcage-pounding bursts. Upon witnessing the game itself and noting that the whole thing was centered around wriggly sausage tubes with people for ends, I immediately felt two things: 1) revulsion, 2) the truest love I’ve known in all my life.

And then I played it.

After a month that saw more new releases than a bunny park, the last UK charts of March are an altogether quieter affair. The top three are unchanged, with Infamous: Second Son on top for a second week ahead of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Titanfall.

That's not to say there weren't any new releases this week, but only one of them makes it to the top ten. The "Reaper of Souls" expansion for Diablo 3 leveled all the way up to 6th, but Level-5/Capcom crossover Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright and motorbike racer MXGP are a bit behind in 15th and 19th respectively. After recent updates added bulletproof vests and shotguns, it was probably inevitable that Prison Architect would continue it’s escalation towards more and more exciting additions with each alpha. The trend continues in alpha 19 with a broad revision to the game’s finance systems, which introduces new rules for borrowing, the need to pay corporation tax, and the ability to sell shares in your prison to investors.

Video update below while I try to explain why I’m not being sarcastic.

There's something out there waiting for us in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it ain't no man. A new trailer for the upcoming "Devastation" DLC briefly showcases The Predator, as per last week's tease, but it doesn't exactly confirm how the alien menace is involved. Chances are it's similar to how Michael Myers features in January's "Onslaught" DLC; players transform into that horror from the big screens when duking it out in the Fog map.

Devastation launches this week, April 3, on Xbox One and Xbox 360, and other platforms will follow presumably with the traditional one month wait. The DLC features four new maps including the reimagining of the popular "Dome" arena from Modern Warfare 3, and it also chucks in the two-in-one Ripper weapon and the second episode in the Extinction campaign. It's priced at $15 as a single download, or it's available as part of the $50 Season Pass that covers four DLC packs in total.

It's unconfirmed if Devastation features the greatest handshake of all time. [Image: Activision-Blizzard]

I keep falling into the trap of thinking I’ve seen all the world’s games and there’s nothing new left for me to discover. This is because I am very arrogant, but then I stumble across something like Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal. It’s a strategy game in which you battle a gradually encroaching goo as it flows around and across terrain. It’s the third in a series of 2D, indie strategy games. It has a story campaign, a level editor, terraforming, and enough unit complexity to evoke Supreme Commander. It has a demo. It is now on Steam.

Let this goo slowly start to colonize your brain by watching the trailer below.

Stronghold Crusader 2 skips away from the muddy fields of Wales (I assume most castles are in Wales because I saw one there as a child), returning to the dust and deserts of the Holy Land (not to imply that Wales is the Unholy Land). I think of the first Crusader spin-off as being a more traditional RTS within the Stronghold mould and what I’ve seen of the sequel backs that up. The main difference between this and the first may well be the actual castle construction, which looks like it’ll allow some creative thinking. Slightly dodgy voiceovers aside, the latest trailer has some appeal and the new details on the skirmish mode suggest it’ll be easy to escape the constraints of the campaign.

What is a Monday morning without Caffeine? A dangerous ravine packed with razor-sharp rocks at the end of the weekend’s gleaming superhighway. I don’t function particularly well until I’ve had my first coffee of the day, which is why I’m so grateful to the galaxy’s caffeine miners. Now seeking crowdfunding over at Indiegogo, Caffeine was last featured on these pages when I first spotted a nifty trailer that displayed its sci-fi horror charms to good effect. Since then, a demo has emerged, showcasing the game’s previous incarnation as an Unreal Engine 3 entity. The release version will be constructed using Unreal Engine 4, and takes inspiration from the spooky works of Monolith, including F.E.A.R. and Condemned. New trailer below.

PlanetSide 2 has been very good (or at least very impressive) for quite some time, but no one can deny that it continues to be a work-in-progress. It’s a massive, multicolored jelly bean bowl of coordinated carnage, yes, but when you’re not rolling with friends or a full-blown outfit, the whole experience can be a bit aimless. The solution? Well, SOE seems to think it’s a mission system, but that too is a work-in-progress. The imposingly named Phase One is now live.
