Stockholm 2011-10-20 – PAN Vision is happy to announce that a deal has been signed to take Pippi Longstocking and her world of adventures and friends to Nintendo DS during the summer of 2012.

Pippi Longstocking is one of the most popular children’s book characters in the world and the series of books has been translated into 64 different languages. Pippi is a favorite among both children and their parents whom have grown up with the environments, adventures and characters in the books.

The game is being developed for the Nintendo DS handheld in cooperation with award winning studio Ravn Studio in Norway, creators of successful games such as Pinchcliffe Grand Prix, Knerten Gets Married and Blåfjell for the Nordic market.
"We only cooperate with serious companies that we feel confident with and we are sure Pippi is in good hands with Ravn“ says Malin Billing at Saltkråkan.

Pippi Longstocking for Nintendo DS is set to be an adventure game filled with activities, features and mini games for children in the ages of 4 to 10 years old. It will give players a true Pippi experience with all of the characters and environments made famous by the books and movies. The end result being a high quality product that will help bring the stories of Astrid Lindgren to a new generation of children.

"What we need to do is prove to Capcom's decision makers that there is a big enough fanbase to support this game. We are so inspired by the series, that we are willing to market the game at NYCC 2011 for Capcom! We were literally one step away from being able to support Legends 3 with our wallets." -- Jake Hans, Get Me Off the Moon International Strategies

There has been much speculation about how using a Tablet will impact the amount of time users spend with other media and other activities. New research from GfK MRI's iPanel shows that a majority of Tablet owners who participate in video games report they use a video game console or a handheld video game less often as a result of owning their Tablet.

Moreover, 44% of Tablet owners say they read printed books less often, 42% say they read hard copy newspapers less often and 41% say they use a desktop or laptop computer less often as a result of owning a Tablet.

GfK MRI's online iPanel is composed of more than 3,000 adult eReader and Tablet owners.

Activities that have been far less impacted by the use of Tablets include playing sports, going to the movies and socializing with friends/family.

I think this should have been titled "For home console owners".

Either or, I'm not that big of a fan for tablet games. To me, they're just something to pass fifteen minutes of waiting in a line instead of actually intending on using them for longer use.

"I'd think a TV format would work better myself. In any event, our licensing teams are in constant discussions with movie studios and tv production houses all over the world about such topics but nothing for me to report on that front." - Capcom Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Christian Svensson

It seems like whenever a Mega Man cartoon comes out, it gets good ratings and then...Capcom kills it off. Not sure why that happens. I'd be worried about the same thing happening if Capcom green-lit another TV series.

We all know that the hardcore Smash community has had quite an issue with Meta Knight. They feel the character is just a tad too cheap and overpowered for usage in tournaments, but now they're actually doing something about it. Meta Knight is going to be banned from tournament usage come early January. If you're a Meta Knight player, you better find a new character to switch to! Thanks to Genkku for the heads up!
Fallen Shade

Big deal, Ice Climber grab spam and Snake KO directional influence avoidance just becomes the new cancer of the tourneyfag brawl scene and nothing actually *crag*ing changes.

Atleast there'll be plenty of tears for everyone here..

HEY GUYS LETS MAKE A COMPETITIVE SIDE TO A GAME THAT WASN'T DESIGNED TO BE COMPETITIVE.

Just take a look at that image and let it sink in. If Capcom was thinking that Mega Man support was fading, they need to look again. Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge is sitting at the top of the 3DS eShop charts, as far as the VC goes. Seriously, how often do you see Mega Man top Zelda and Mario.

Mega Man fans are speaking, Capcom. Are you finally going to listen?

My greatest fear about the multiplayer in this was that players 2, 3, and 4 would be stuck as unchangeable characters while only player 1 got to bask in the Copying glory.

Now I'm happy.

I'm also glad that I finally got to see Waddle Dee do something.

You should see the new Kirby game for the DS. It has the salesman guy from the crappy anime.

"I’ve never actually finished it (Legend of Zelda). I almost feel like there’s still no game more difficult than it. Every time I try to play it I end up getting 'Game Over' a few too many times and giving up partway through. Certainly after playing the original Zelda for the first time, I didn’t ever think that I wanted to make a game like that." - Eiji Aonuma

Funny how the man that steers the Zelda series today has never actually beaten the first game. You would think that would be a prerequisite! Instead, it seems that Aonuma's love of the series comes from the SNES outing.

"That sense of exploration of the world itself (in ALttP) was really where I latched on to the series."

Francis

Now I don't feel so bad. I bet very few people have ever beaten the original Zelda.

Fallen Shade
I beat the 1st quest using maps, I worked on the 2nd quest for a little bit before I got bored with it. I'll probably finish a 2nd quest play through eventually.

You think Slippy is annoying now? Did you know that Nintendo considered having him say 'Ribbit' after every sentence?! Thankfully Miyamoto squashed that idea.

StarFox 64 coordinator Yusuke Amano: What made an impression on me with regard to the voices was how much Slippy talks.

StarFox scriptwriter Mitsuhiro Takano: He doesn't say "Ribbit!" (laughs) At first, though, he did say things like, "Do something, ribbit!" but Miyamoto-san said it wasn't cool, so I took it out.

- teaming up with the charity Dogs Trust to raise awareness in a campaign called 'A dog is not a toy'
- goal is to train children about dog ownership
- campaign is also backed by The Saturdays
- also includes a Junior Canine Carer competition that will give five kids the chance to win a Nintendo 3DS, nitnendogs + cats and a chance to go behind the scenes of a Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre and be a part of the charity’s Canine Carer team for a day.

"We’re really excited to be working with Dogs Trust on this initiative. Walking around Dogs Trust rehoming centres and seeing dogs that have been handed in because their owners couldn’t cope with their behaviour serves as a wake-up call. We believe that if nintendogs + cats can help just a handful of kids to stop and think about what is involved before buying a dog, this initiative will be a success." - Dawn Paine, Marketing Director at Nintendo

To test this theory researchers found 18 mothers who were nursing their children, 17 who were using formula, and 20 women who did not have kids. All of the participants were asked to play a video game against a research assistant who pretended to be overly aggressive and competitive player. when a participant won a round of the competition, she was allowed to press a button that delivered a "punitive sound burst" to their opponent.

When all was said and done, researchers found that the breast-feeding mothers inflicted the loudest and longest punitive sound bursts on the research assistant than the other two groups. Mothers who breast-fed their infants were almost twice as aggressive as formula-feeding women and non-mothers, according to researchers. Formula-using moms and non-mothers were equal in their levels of aggression - which wasn't all that high, apparently. Oddly enough, researchers also found that while breast-feeding moms were highly aggressive as they played and won their compeititos, their blood pressure remained normal.

This actually doesn't surprise me, considering how common this sort of thing is in nature, but I guess the juxtaposition of breast-feeding mothers and dishing out pain in video games is a bit unusual. I think the _____ing Mama series needs to get on this.
