Remember that in February, Nintendo declared the "Year of Luigi." Unless they were retroactively declaring January to be a Month of Luigi, too, this proclamation should extend into 2014—and Reggie Fils-Aime, the Nintendo of America president, said today it does.Read more...

Starbound developer Chucklefish began sending out beta keys for the PC, Mac and Linux game today. Those who backed the space-faring exploration game should see a Steam key in their inboxes momentarily, and the developer says a direct download version of the game will be available "as soon as we are able to efficiently provide it."

The Terraria-like game's official site reveals that over $2.6 million was raised by 124,176 backers in the developer's ongoing crowdfunding efforts. Starbound features procedurally-generated worlds in which players must gather supplies to take on quests. The "story in a sandbox" game received a new trailer to commemorate the launch of its beta version, which features some of its side-scrolling action.

- standard VGC format: Double Battles, 4 Pokemon picked
- Pokemon only within the Kalos Pokedex are allowed
- Pokémon which have been transferred from Generation V using Pokemon Bank are not allowed
- Mega Evolutions & Hidden Abilities are allowed
- Illegally modified Pokemon are banned
Assorted_Cake_Projectiles

I find it funny that the main new feature of Pokemon X/Y will be the mega evolutions, and they are banned from the 2014 VGC's.

So...basically it's the 2013 VGC's but you can only use the Kalos Dex.

Assorted_Cake_Projectiles

Yeah pretty much. Mega evolution stats are pretty much Legendary tier.

But I felt that with the loss of a held item and the limit to one per team kept it balanced.

Im probably not parttaking in VGC's this year due to time constraints, but if I was I wouldnt be too mad about the mega evo's and hidden abilities ban. But it does feel a little annoying. We wouldnt be allowed to use anything brought from outside the KalosDex, and the new hidden ablilities and mega evo's are mostly what Gen 6 brought to the Metagame table. So stripping new mechanics essentially makes it last year's VGC's but with a few pokemon missing and a few pokemon added.

As for not wanting to deal with new things, there is a lot of time between now and the 2014 VGC's. That is enough leeway to do suspect testing (The VGC tier in Pokemon Showdown exists for a reason) to get a better feel of what is OP and what is not.

tl;dr:
I feel it's lazy and foolish to just ban everything new, and that is how real OP things fall through the cracks and end up sweeping the tournaments.

well going with the assumption that iron mans suit is roughly 225 pounds, and platinum is $1381 on the ounce, we land somewhere in the ballpark of $4971600 for a full suit.

Bowser's inside story really left an "eh" impression on me.

The M&L games dont have a lot of replayability, but they are clever in their designs, so I feel I have to get the next ones and see what they came up with, especilly if they cloaim to delve into Psychonaughts territory.

Maybe when the price goes down to the low 20's.

December tends to be a financially exhausting month, what with the cousins, co-workers, friends and pets filling up your "must gift" list. All that generosity can leave you left with nothing but warm feelings and an empty wallet, and let's be honest - warm feelings won't do much to stave off the soul-crushing boredom that hits around 4PM every Saturday. Members of PlayStation Plus need not fear, however, as the service is winding down 2013 with a fine selection of free games for PS3 and Vita.

If driving is your thang, snag "aggressive" racer Grid 2, which lets you wind back a few seconds of time should something disastrous happen on the track. If you like to drive, shoot things, and collect a lot of loot (with which you can also shoot things), there's Borderlands 2. If you've never given this one a try, do it, especially if you're in the mood for some superfun co-op.

If shooting things while experiencing a rip in the fabric of spacetime all hopped up on cold medicine is more your style, Dyad is the way to go. A bit of a hidden gem, Dyad is a trippy shooter in the spirit of Rez or Space Giraffe, and while the blend of color and music with fast-paced twitch shooting isn't for everyone, we're pretty sure it's a recruitment tool for Starfighters of some sort.

Vita owners get a pair of wheel-happy titles gratis in December: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Urban Trial Freestyle. It would be hard to blame you for shrugging off a kart racer, even a free one, but we said Sonic "might be the best racer of its kind to come along in years, and that's no exaggeration," so you may want to make a point of checking it out. The latter lets you take your customizable motorbike all over town, performing tricks like ollies, wallrides, and others that undoubtedly invalidate your insurance policy.

For those still on the fence about picking up a PlayStation Plus membership, it's on the cheap this Black Friday (today!), with various retailers marking it down to $29.99.
