User-created groups already sort of exist now that everyone can create their own boards. But how about bringing back official H.E.R.O./E.V.I.L./P.I.R.A.T.E./N.I.N.J.A. boards? There could be a group button at the top of the page where you can choose one of the four groups to join, then the group's board would appear in the 'official' section of the board list on the right. Comments anyone?
Gold Prognosticus
Bump.
Also, make a 'view older topics' button at the bottom of the page please.

Well, clans would have to use an item system(or a battle system) of some kind in order to do somethin' like that, Franis.

The portable version of Sony's PSN-exclusive darling, Fat Princess, was being demoed by the publisher at yesterday's PSP holiday showcase and looked ... just like the console version. We asked Sony what would set the game apart from its console counterpart -- other than the fact that it's on PSP -- and were enthusiastically told, "It'll feature 50 percent more content!"Okay, that's very nice, but also very vague. So, we of course asked for more details and learned that the game will have a variety of modes not found in the PS3 release, including one where the class hat generators are busted at the beginning of the match and must be repaired using resources before they can be used.Another mode removes the princess from the equation and has players delivering something to their opponents' castle rather than removing it -- a bomb. Sony calls this portable version of the game "Fat Princess 1.5," saying that it also has an expanded single-player component, a new map and the aforementioned new modes (plus some). If there's anything this franchise stresses, it's that "more is better."

Hopefully they add this new stuff to the PS3 version (which got stale real quick)

If you're planning the playoffs for the video game industry's intramural softball league, you may want to avoid the weeks leading up to Feb. 9. That's when the 27 different development studios involved with BioShock 2 (a full half of the world's developers) will be crunching to finish BioShock 2 for release. After waiting all this time, we're just happy that the game can finally ship, 2K can staff up just a bit more, and work can begin on BioShock 3: Now It's An MMO.
Francis
27 development studios??? This better be good.

is bad of course, but it is pretty obvious who's game this is once you get a few hours in. I'd almost go so far as to say that this is not only the best in the series, but quite possibly the best Mario RPG released so far. If I had to pick one this week, between this and Scribblenauts, I'd have to say it is really a hard choice. Which ever one you don't get, I highly encourage you to look into the other at some point. Especially if you picked up Scribblenauts insted of Bowser's Inside Story.
Orangesoda
I should look into it.

In short, just recently, I've created Rose and Dave to go along with a specific size / style I'm making a bunch of Homestuck sprites in, along with Dad. I made John a while ago. There's also the Sepulchritude MSPA Reader, which I don't think I've ever posted. It's basically an edit of my previous sprite, the classic MSPA reader holding a gun towards suicide, but I like it.

At DICE Summit Asia, Sony Japan Studio VP Yasuhide Kobayashi gave a speech about appealing to a global audience with games, which he identified as increasingly important as the Japanese market contracts. He mentioned The Last Guardian, which was given that particular title to appeal to Western markets. As an example of Western-focused marketing that didn't work, Kobayashi presented the Japanese and North American boxes for ICO, the game that brought the Last Guardian developers to prominence. "If the packaging was designed differently, we think it would have sold more," he said. "In fact on the internet many people have said that the Japanese version was better." Because it is.Kobayashi then finished by highlighting what he saw as a different perception of what makes a "new" game in the West and Japan. He said that a "new" game in the US or Europe could be "something similar to something that's come before, because they think it is easier for people to understand.""But actually we don't like this - it's like you're simulating, following suit, combining two titles into one," he continued. "It seems the definition of a new title is different in the US and Europe to Japan. It means a new genre, that's what we call a new game."Japan has just as many iterative sequels as anywhere else, but we guess they aren't considered as new?

Japan usually gets the better boxart for some reason; *crag*, it applies to western games like Mass Effect, even

Allow me to explain. In the extreme anarcho-capitalist society, individuality and personal liberty comes first. You are you, and you are not recognized as just a part of a group. However, this would mean that everyone would act out of self-interest; there would be no group involvement unless their own personal gain was somehow involved. Let's look at the anarcho-communist society; everyone helps eachother and work toward common goals, and there is utmost safety for each person. However, there would also be a lack of individuality; everyone would essentially hold the same mindset. In addition, unlike capitalism, which rewards people based on their ambition or intelligence, in a communist system, each individual is rewarded the same amount, regardless of qualifying factors. Plus, each individual would be able to take in as much as they think they need to sustain themselves, and this could be abused. Personally, I would rather live in the individual-focused anarcho-capitalist society; it rewards ambition, self-interest, and intelligence, and allows individuality to flourish. However, one must realize that neither of these extremes are possible; there will always be those to abuse both systems, and that's why any attempts at making a capitalist utopia would evolve in to fascism and any attempts at making a communist utopia would evolve in to authoritarian socialism.
Francis
anarcho-communist please

Remember, selfishness isn't necessarily a bad thing. It only becomes a bad thing when it harms another person. With that said, being selfish may result in not helping someone, but that doesn't mean you're harming that person; if it did, than everyone in the world is harming someone every second of time.
I believe helping people in need is alright; it's just that you shouldn't be expected to/forced to.
