E74, one red light. This is the third time it's done this so far - the first time was several months back and I posted about it here, and the second was a week or two ago. Considering the short time between this and the last incident, I don't think our method of repairing it is going to be much use any more, meaning I'm gonna have to go out and buy a new 360 if I want to play any of my games.

At least I have all my PC/Wii/DS stuff still intact though.

Especially the ones that are occasionally on motorcycles. How sad.

Maiq is back with another review for another game, this time I am reviewing My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party for the Nintendo Ds.
First off, let me tell you that this game is actually based off of the cool My Little Pony and not any of the stupid ones. The quality of the amazing cartoon show really shjows through and its easy to tell that alot of work went into making this title.
It is Pinkie Pie's birthday and everypony is excited in Ponyville but Sweetie Belle mistook Pinkie's presents for dumb fabric and hid them all over Ponyville. Because of this turn of events, Princess celestia was forced to raise the Pinkamena Threat Level to orange because her sanity is dropping and you don't want Pinkie Pie to go insane. Celestia also punishes Sweetie Belle for her error by forcing her to read Cupcakes in a dark room.
In the game you play as Pinkie Pie's alter ego Pinkie Pie, and you have to go hunt for the presents before the manehatten project comes to fruition with you giving all the ponies the gift of a bloodbath. Along for the ride are two of the best ponies ever, Cherilee and Scottaloo. they're help is necessary if Pinkie is to retrieve her gifts and pastries(which she needs to eat to keep sane) because they bring some awesome powers to the table.
For example, about midway through the game you have to open a fried chicken stand to be able to afford a ladder to reach the plasma screen TV that Rarity bought her, and you need Gilda for something(if you know what I mean) and when she resists Scootaloo is the only one that can reach her to unleash deliriously awesome chain combo attacks that can link up with Pinkie's sugar high and Cherilee just stands there pretty much(she gives words of encouragement I guess?). the battle ends when Pinkie uses a pile of rocks to build wings and she shoryuken's Gilda in the crotch because she's a bitch.
Through the entirity of the game you gotta keep a watch on Pinkie's sanity meter because she doesn't like not having presents and you get a game over screen if it runs out. You can refill the meter by eating buttloads of cupcakes and other various sugary confections.
When you get far enough you get the option to trade your party members for other characters, such as replacing Scootaloo with Diamond Tiara(don't do it, she's a bitch and you end up strangling her anyway) or replacing Cherilee with Granny Smith who has a shotfun which is like a shotgun but it dispenses hapiness(do it because cherrylee doesn't do anything anyway).

Eventually you have to fight the Great and Powerful Trixie because she thinks the Great and Powerful Presents are all for her because of how Great and Powerful she is. Pinkie pie respectfully disagrees by telling her she'll shit down her neck. The game gets really weird at this point because Pinkie Pie looked at hte screen and said "M'aiq help us" and then I was in Ponyville and I had to fight Trixie but for realsies this time.
Being a humble Khajiit who didn't know shit about magic  I began wailing my arms around and I think I activated a cheat code or something because Princess Luna joined the party(the buttom combination was: up, right, middle, right, green, artichoke, yodel). She told trixie that this is stupid andthe presents are for Pinkie Pie but Trixie was pmsing and kept being a bitch about it, so I hopped on Luna and we charged at Trixie(it was *crag*ing epic) and then trixie exploded but the blast was too strong and I would have died but Luna shielded me from the blast becuase she had the power of unicron.
After that I got a lot of cupcakes and things and they sent me home but noone believed me when I told them what happened. Because of that the game lost a few points but overall it was a very enjoyable experience. 5 out of 6.

(oh, and Pinkie managed to shit down trickses neck even though she blow up)

The Firaxis team are taking a few pages from Sid Meier’s great gaming history and placing then in the Facebook. The “social” – or maybe “casual”, I don’t really know – version of Civ, named CivWorld, went into an opne beta today, and it actually looks pretty good. I am basing that on having kicked off a game myself after watching the video which I’ve embedded below. If there’s a problem I can report on up front, well, it keeps timing out, and is maddeningly laggy. Still, it is just a beta, and one that is too popular for its own good, I suppose. Anyway, I am sure we’ll be hearing more about this soon.(more…)

I have never enjoyed hats so much in my life. This game is all about hats, and succeeds at making hat collecting addicting. The game has three major parts, crafting hats, trading hats, and idling for hats. There's also weapons and something about fighting another team to win the game but nobody cares about that. You start out the game with no hats, which is pretty shameful. First you begin your hat collection by getting all these useless things, throwing them together, and making another uselss thing out of it. Then you make more useless things, and when you have the highest level of useless things you throw them all the highest level of useless things together and you make a shitty hat that you didn't want. This process is called crafting. The next step is to find someone that is willing to trade for your shitty hat that you didn't want. You trade with that person and you get a slightly less shitty hat. Then you keep trading more hats and useless things and you work your way up the ranks of hats. Eventually you'll be among the highest hat collecters and will have a large collection of many high quality hats. In terms of graphics this game is absolutely amazing, it has so many hats. In terms of gameplay this game is very great. I enjoyed hats all day and every day. For music and sound though I have to say it was very mediocre, there was not enough hats. Overall I give this game 9 hats out of 10 hats.

Most games you eventually get tired of at some point. Whether it doesn't have enough content to keep you interested or that it's just the same thing over and over. And after a while a game will lose the appeal it once had when you first played it. However Starcraft transcends this in a few key ways.

First of all is the evolution of the game. As people play Starcraft and hone their skills, new strategies are developed. New threats must be accounted for. Being able to determine what your opponent is planning to do is a skill in and of itself and is vital at higher levels of play as you may find yourself ill prepared for what your opponent has up their sleeve.

Secondly is the depth of the game. Over time you will learn the most efficient way to play as your race of choice and make the most use of it's respective strengths. Your perspective of Starcraft will change as you play it. Much like as in other games such as Team Fortress 2, you will start to notice new things as you improve. In Team Fortress 2 you will start to recognize amoungst the various sounds of battle when a spy has uncloaked near you, or you will see a weak point in the other team's defense and be able to exploit it with the appropriate class. In Starcraft it goes much deeper. When you first play the game you won't know what a certain composition of units means. You won't know where you are being hit when a nuclear launch is detected. However as you continue to play the game these things become obvious to you. You will start to see things as you never did before. Seeing a lot of static defense in the enemy's base will mean so much more to you than when you first started to play and it only looked difficult to attack. If you spot certain tells in time you will know what you need to in order to counter your opponent's strategy. In this way the game's entertainment value rises as you continue to play it.

Third is the custom content created by the Starcraft community. Besides countless maps are varying game modes available to play. Be it tower defense, space battles, the ever popular Phantom Mode, or even Mafia, there is something for everyone. And new ones are always being developed. Take for example Phantom Mode. This is similar to the main game in it's mode of play, however it is much different gameplay wise. There are a few options to choose from at the start, but typically there are eight players total. Two paladins, four slayers, and two phantoms. The slayers are normal players allied with the paladins and they get a bounty for killing an enemy. Paladins get a regular income of resources that diminishes as slayers are killed. Phantoms get an income of resources that increases over time as well as extra supply over time as well. Supply is what limits the amount of units you can make. Nobody knows who anybody else is so the slayers and paladins must determine who the phantoms are before they grow too powerful for anybody to defeat. Deception is a large part of the game as a clever phantom will turn his enemies against eachother.

These are just a few aspects of the game that make it entertaining and keep it's players coming back for more.
