Downforeveryoneorjustme.com reports it as being offline, so I think it's a serverside issue rather than a clientside one. Makes it a bit awkwared when I see a news post on the Digibutter index and then can't reach it by clicking the link.

Same roster for both versions, so the number of characters may be limited by the 3DS capabilities.
3DS makes some characters, like Ice Climbers, difficult to implement.
...so the 3DS and Wii U versions may not release at same time.
Don't expect many 3rd party characters. Mega Man may be all there is.
Gameplay balance will fall somewhere between Melee and Brawl.
Gamepad will not have any advantage over other controllers.
Official tiles are Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Super Smash Bros for 3DS
No tripping.
No plans for DLC.
You can customize your players somehow (but its not costumes, and its not anything you have to earn)
You can transfer your customizations between Wii U and 3DS versions.
Wii U and 3DS versions can NOT play against each other, and each has different levels.

Lot of details are coming in from various interviews with Sakurai

The following info comes from a Joystiq interview with Masahiro Sakurai.

- each version of the game has completely different stages
- cross-platform play wouldn't work
- each version will interact with one another
- take characters you've customized and transfer them to the Wii U version
- customizatios won't be costumes and they won't be something that players have to unlock
- different costumes would take away from what makes each character unique
- wants to avoid boring, repetitive tasks
- "stress free, easy connectivity" between the two versions
- no comment on level editor

He said it doesn't work because each game has different levels (yeah, dumb reason). Apparently they never planned to have cross-play, everyone just assumed it.

The waiting list was full when I got there so I didn't get to play anything. Also all the Luigi Hats and Mario Kart flags were all gone :(  but the most frustrating thing of all was that half the people there wanted to play Zelda.

So you had to watch a single player play the same Wind Waker level that the previous nerd played, for 10 minutes each. Note to Nintendo... you have four controllers and a crowd of people wanting to have fun. Watching one person play an old Zelda game repeatedly is not fun.

I did get to see Super Mario 3D World played a few times, which was awesome. I'm really really excited about it. Mario Kart 8 looked great too, even though it's just more of the same. Donkey Kong Country was also more of the same and had really bad loading times (I assume they'll fix that before release). In fact DKC looks pretty underwhelming after playing Rayman Legends.

So if you have a best buy nearby it's worth checking out (they do it again Saturday), but be prepared to wait a long time to get play.

Lord Crump
It was a waste of time; I waited 30 minutes for a chance to play and the games there weren't anything mind-blowing
Pikmin 3 and Smash Bros. would've been halfway interesting

Masahiro Sakurai is responsible for the revival of Kid Icarus on the 3DS. Now that the character is more front-and-center in gamers' minds, where does Sakurai want things to go from here?

@cheesemeister3k I asked him about future - he said he wants someone else to do it in like 20 years lol

— Rich (@RichIGN) June 13, 2013

In other words, let the character disappear again, then have someone else come in and build him back up!

It's not all champagne and high fives coming out of Sony's E3 press conference today. A "screw you, Microsoft" video the PlayStation team put together has some fine print underneath, which reads: PS4 multiplayer online access requires PSN account & PS Plus subscription. Now, this is far from terrible news. PlayStation Plus gives you access to a ton of free games (so long as you're a paid-up member), and competitors Microsoft have always charged for online play, something they'll continue to do with the Xbox One. Still, the fact that online multiplayer was free on the PS3 will likely rankle a few. We're reaching out to Sony for confirmation on this, and will update if we hear back.
Francis
sucks, but at least its not required for non-multiplayer online stuff like netflix And i do admit PS+ has been worth it for the free PS3 games.

I remember when the seven of us at Supergiant were days away from revealing our first game, Bastion, back at PAX Prime in 2010. The game had been in development for about a year but we were only just figuring out how to talk about it to the public. When people would ask us “what is this game about,” what would we say? We weren’t sure at first, because Bastion is an action RPG where an old man talks to you the whole time — and that sounds really, really terrible. Thankfully, those who played it tended to come away with a much more positive impression. We eventually came up with stuff we could say about Bastion with a straight face, but by far our favorite way of presenting the game to people was to invite them to play it. Now here I am trying to tell you about our next game, Transistor, and I wish I could just hand you a controller and let you try it for yourself. We revealed it earlier this year at PAX East, and today we’ve announced it will be making its console debut on the PlayStation 4 when we’re finished with it sometime early next year. If you check our reveal trailer, you’ll get a feel for what Transistor is like, though let me give you a little more background.

At Supergiant our games take inspiration from many of the most memorable games we played when we were kids. In my case it’s a very long list, everything from RPGs like the classic Ultima and Final Fantasy games, to fighting games like Street Fighter II and Samurai Shodown. Those games challenged my preconceptions of what games could be, and introduced me to unforgettable worlds and characters. Rather than throw back to the classics, though, we’re much more interested in capturing the experience of playing games like that for the first time. It’s that rush you feel when you find a game that’s incredibly novel but turns out to have a lot of depth there too… the kind of game you lose yourself in, and that leaves a lasting impression long after you’re done playing.

8972829475_f03b206b85_z.jpg

8972830055_d04e3ee8b3_n.jpg8974021910_d78b510757_n.jpg

Bastion was our first attempt to act on this aspiration, and fortunately, it got a great response from around the world. It’s sold more than two million copies and earned more than 100 industry accolades, and put us in a position to maintain our independence, stick together as a team, and make something new. And, when it came to making something new, that’s exactly what we wanted. With Transistor, our aim is to create a unique-feeling game with its own strong, distinct identity, and many of its own surprises.

We’ve been working on Transistor for about a year and a half now, and most of the time has gone into finding that identity for the game. The result is a play experience that merges the kind of immediate moment-to-moment action we love with a much more deliberate and thoughtful strategic layer that lets you dictate the pace of a battle. We took inspiration from our favorite turn-based games and tactical RPGs, and aimed to capture the inherent drama and suspense of that style of play but in the context of an easy-to-learn action RPG. There’s nothing like turning the tables from the verge of defeat with some sort of spectacular last-ditch reversal, and the moment-to-moment play in Transistor should be packed with those kinds of opportunities. It’s all presented in a way that we think is unique to our game, and deeply connected to the story of this mysterious and powerful weapon you’ll be using throughout.

8972830223_891e1692ab_n.jpg8974021988_20fa67f0c9_n.jpg

While I still sometimes struggle to find the words to describe the game I’m working on, I love talking about it almost as much as working on it, and I’d be happy to answer your questions right here in the coming days. In turn, if you want to know more about what we’re up to, please have a look at our web site or keep an eye on @SupergiantGames. In the mean time, we’ll keep doing our best to make a game that lives up to that Supergiant ideal.

The new design is shipping to the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland today, with more regions scheduled in the coming months.

Microsoft announced the new Xbox 360 at its E3 press conference today in Los Angeles. Along with the redesign, Xbox Live Gold members will get two free games per month until the Xbox One launches in November, and first up is Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2.

A new Just Dance game, called Just Dance 2014, has leaked ahead of an expected announcement by Ubisoft at their E3 press conference. A listing for the game has appeared on Xbox.com, containing screenshots and some brief information on the title, which has given up sequel numbering in favour of a sports game-like annual schedule. The latest opus of the Just Dance franchise will make you dance even more and will be once again the ultimate casual rendezvous of the year. This new opus will be even more social as you will be able to connect and dance with players from all over the world and share a unique dancing experience with them. It becomes the party expert and features today iconic pop culture references. New modes will be available, letting you and your friends experience parties the way only Just Dance knows how! Yes, they used the word "opus" twice. It's listed for just the Xbox 360, and is due in October. Just Dance 2014 [Xbox, via NeoGAF]
