How awfully productive Take Your Child To Work Day must have been for Hazard Ops. I imagine the developers’ children left in a conference room with a big pile of coloured pens, kept occupied by being told they had the important and helpful job of deciding which enemies would be in the game. “Monsters!” they wrote. “Robots! Mutants! Mummies! Demons! Zombies! Zombie dogs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs with rocket launchers! Ghost bitches in high heels!” (One had guessed the child lock code for Adult Swim, it was later discovered.) One terrible filing mixup later, the free-to-play multiplayer shooters has all these and more.

Hazard Ops is coming to Europe, publisher Infernum has announced, some time from July to September. It’s developed by Yingpei Games, the gang formerly known as Epic Games China, and surely their children too.

REDMOND, Wash., April 11, 2014 – A whole new world awaits players in Disney Magical World, launching today for the Nintendo 3DS system. After creating a personalized avatar and a customized dream life, players embark on a 3D fantasy adventure featuring more than 60 iconic Disney characters across a main central plaza and its four surrounding worlds inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Aladdin and Winnie the Pooh. It's all Disney, all the time as players interact with beloved characters, run a café to earn in-game coins, set off on ghost-hunting quests and even visit friends' towns via the StreetPass feature.

"It's very exciting to see two powerhouses in entertainment – Nintendo and Disney – come together to develop a family-friendly video game," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "With Disney Magical World, players of all ages can experience the magic of Disney through the magic of the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems."

Endless opportunities for creativity and customization allow the imagination to run wild in Disney Magical World. With more than 1,000 items, players can hone their design skills to create hundreds of personalized Disney-themed outfits, accessories and furniture. Budding green thumbs can plant and harvest crops in the Hundred Acre Wood. Aspiring restaurateurs can design a café from its décor to its menu. As they foster its success through careful management, players can earn valuable in-game coins and even pique the interest of favorite Disney characters to stop by for a meal. The personal "My Room" retreat above the café offers another customizable opportunity with even more items and furniture.

For players looking for a dose of adventure, the Disney Magical World game features many exciting quests and unique collectibles. By collecting and using magic wands with different skill sets, players can battle through ghost-filled forests and dungeons. Players also can help various Disney characters retrieve missing hard-to-find items on these action-filled excursions.

Several aspects of the game leverage the unique features of the Nintendo 3DS system. By scanning Disney Magical World-specific AR Cards – which will be distributed online, in stores and at special events – with the Nintendo 3DS camera, players can unlock new clothes, accessories and furniture items. Players can connect locally or through StreetPass to interact with other players and scope out their customized avatars, towns and cafés. The game also offers additional free and paid downloadable content via Wi-Fi to players using a broadband Internet connection, including one free monthly in-game Disney-themed avatar T-shirt. Players also can opt in to receive free downloadable items like clothing and furniture every season, starting today.

As an added bonus, players who visit a Nintendo Zone location between April 18 and Aug. 7 will be able to download free exclusive items, most of which are themed to Pinocchio. These include Pinocchio hats and outfits, goldfish bowls and wallpaper. New items are available every two weeks, so players should keep checking back. For more information about Nintendo Zone and where to find one nearby, visit http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/nintendozone.

Disney Magical World is now available in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS at a suggested retail price of $29.99. For more information about the game, visit http://disney.nintendo.com.

Remember that Nintendo 3DS features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/3ds.

Disney Magical World is developed by BANDAI NAMCO Studio Inc.

Last Life is the second game in Double Fine's new indie publishing program, and it has a bit of a different vibe than the first game, Escape Goat 2. Last Life is a dark, sci-fi noir adventure inspired by Kentucky Route Zero and Telltale's The Walking Dead. One difference from both of those games: It takes place on Mars.

In Last Life, you investigate your own death - you're Jack Parker, private investigator, and you're dead. You're 3D-printed back into the living world for four hours to hunt down your killer by shaking down a lineup of shady characters, using "charm, bribes or something less pleasant." Developer Sam Farmer sets up the premise as follows:

"Eleven years before our story opens, all life on Earth was ended. Now, only a few million humans still exist, scattered throughout the remaining civilized colonies of the solar system - forever exiled.

"P.I. Jack Parker was one of the lucky few to have escaped Earth's tragedy.

"On that infamous day, he just happened to be working a case on MarsTopia, the crown jewel among these colonies on the red planet. He survived on that destination resort development, but half-wished he hadn't. The echoes of the life he left behind on Earth ... a life lost forever ... grew louder every hour. Until, that is, the day 11 years later when he was gunned down and killed."

Last Life is looking for $75,000 on Kickstarter. With 28 days to go, it's raised $19,000. It's in development for PC, Mac and Linux.

Hi PlayStation.Blog readers! This is Walid, producer at Spiders Studios. With the upcoming launch of Bound by Flame — our latest game and our first RPG for PS4 — we decided to tease you a little more with our combat system, via an extensive combat trailer explaining its mechanics. Enjoy!

Bound by Flame features real-time combat that’s tactically deep, dynamic, and spectacular. Defeating your enemies won’t be an easy task, as every single monster and creature you’ll encounter has its own behavior, strengths, and weaknesses you’ll have to exploit in order to tear them into pieces.

You’ll be given access to three different skill trees to develop your character, each tree with its own unique abilities. The Warrior uses two-handed swords, axes, and war hammers to break his enemy’s defenses and inflict heavy damage, while the stealthy Ranger dual wields daggers to sneak up on his enemies for devastating backstabs — and then fights the survivors in fast-paced melee combat. The Pyromancer channels the fiery powers of the demon: hurl fireballs, light your weapon on fire, invoke flame spirits, and much more.

In combat, you’ll be able to toggle between the Warrior and Ranger stances in the blink of an eye, to adapt your tactics on the fly according to the enemies you’re facing. The rich bestiary of Bound by Flame will throw strong and varied foes at you; some of them might inflict poison, while others will use long range attacks. Even stronger enemies will try to tear you apart with powerful melee strikes.

Crafting plays a critical role in Bound by Flame. Nearly all weapons and pieces of armor are customizable, letting you improve their effectiveness while also adding beneficial bonuses that suit your fighting style. Adding a new pomel to a sword may greatly increase your damage, but it could also reduce your attack speed. Choose wisely before crafting new components to your equipment!

Your chosen companion will also be a decisive component for victory. Do you need a defensive healer, an unyielding tank, an aggressive sorcerer, or an elusive archer? Select carefully, because if you throw yourself into battle without any plan in mind and no ally to watch your back, you’re more likely to get overwhelmed by your opponents.

If you want to know more about Bound by Flame, don’t hesitate to visit our official website and the official Facebook Page. I’ll stop by from time to time to answer comments, so if you have any question, just ask!

Virtuix's Omni treadmill, a virtual reality platform that allows users to run and walk in any direction in games using their real-life legs, will begin shipping in July for those that already pre-ordered one. The $500 package includes the treadmill unit, a pair of shoes, a support harness, mini-game and tracking software and hardware. The cost doesn't include shipping, but it does come with a one-year warranty. Those that decide to pre-order a unit now will receive it in September, according to Eurogamer.

Virtuix began taking pre-orders for the omnidirectional treadmill in August 2013 following a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign that ended in July. The VR hardware developer raised $1.1 million on the crowdfunding platform, and pushed well past its $150,000 goal in its first day. We've seen videos of early demos of the Omni in action, including one accompanied by the Oculus Rift and Team Fortress 2. [Image: Virtuix]

If there’s one thing better than blazing through one of Trials Fusion’s trickiest courses, it’s knowing you did it faster — and with fewer crashes — than your friends. Online leaderboards lie at the heart of the Trials universe, and with Trials Fusion on PS4 we’re taking that competitive experience one step further.

Trials Fusion will pit you against racers all around the world in a heated battle to dominate the global leaderboards with your fastest times and even your highest FMX scores. Built off the core framework of Trials Evolution, Trials Fusion now makes it easier than ever to track your rivals’ progress and one-up their top race times. This is your chance to prove your skills, crash now and then, and prove that within your battered, broken rib cage beats the heart of a champion.

And for those who want more immediate gratification when smoking their rivals, Trials Fusion also supports 4-player local multiplayer races and FMX courses. Just promise not to throw a controller at your friends when you face-plant at the finish line.

Get ready to crush your competition (and probably shatter a few bones) on April 15th. For more information on Trials Fusion, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
