A portion of a Dtoid review...

Resident Evil Revelations isn't as good on consoles as it is on the 3DS. It clearly wasn't designed for larger machines, and the somewhat clunky, rudimentary controls indicate that it would need to be rebuilt from the ground up to prove a superior alternative.

A portion of a Eurogamer review...

This HD edition builds subtly on the 3DS foundations, but thankfully doesn't crush them under the needless AAA junk that has dragged the series so far off course. That leaves a game that is just rough enough around the edges to win over fans who still pine for the series' heyday, and suggests the saga might yet come back to life.

A portion of a Siliconera review...

Overall, Resident Evil: Revelations, while not completely atoning for the sins of Resident Evil 6, should hopefully remind players what a back-to-basics, focused Resident Evil experience is all about, and if the response is sufficient, hopefully Capcom will be reminded as well.

I don’t think I’m being particularly controversial when I say Resident Evil hasn’t been scary in a long, long, long time. Resident Evil 4 (abysmal PC port aside, sadly) was a great action game, Resident Evil 5 was an offensively inoffensive action game, and Resident Evil 6 should be illegal. But Resident Evil Revelations actually garnered pretty strong marks on handhelds, and I think I’m starting to understand why. The ship looks suitably confined, the monsters aren’t simply regular people whose heads explode into evil spaghetti sometimes, and the game apparently attempts to leverage the natural human fear of drowning. That’s interesting, but can it be fun? I sure hope so. For now, however, all we’ve got is footage and three devs spilling behind-the-scenes secrets like warm entrails from a fallen fish monster. I suppose that’ll do.
