I was stumbling about the net, and I hit upon a flash ad for Spirit Tracks… The ad has you play the Spirit Pipes/Flute to unlock some game footage. While the second half of the footage is old, the beginning bit is new. I captured it in a video for you!

A portion of a GameSetWatch interview with Capybara’s Nathan Vella and Kris Piotrowski… GSW: You’ve finished Might and Magic for DS and Critter Crunch for PSN. Can you talk about other stuff you’re doing? KP: Yeah. One of the games that we’re making, which Nathan mentioned, is called Heartbeat, and it’s a WiiWare game. I can’t really [...]

They said it couldn't be done -- and for good reason, considering how difficult it must be for a creature to stretch its own body to a length of 576,682,810 miles. However, thanks to a little help from Namco Bandai, Noby Noby Boy's community-driven "Girl" has managed to extend her torso from Earth to Jupiter, unlocking a new playable planet for all of the game's inhabitants. Make sure you check out the video after the jump to get a sense of what eating your own butt whilst aimlessly traversing a gas giant feels like. We can't believe we just had a reason to write that sentence. Thank you so, so much, Noby Noby Boy.

When Valve announced Left 4 Dead 2 during Microsoft's E3 2009 press conference -- less than seven months after the release of the award-winning original -- gamers were, perhaps rightfully, shocked. This was the same Valve that spent nearly ten years iterating on Team Fortress 2 and whose experiment in episodic gaming has forced us to reevaluate our expectations for future installments of Half-Life 2 using the "Star Wars-definition" of episodic. So when Valve announced a direct sequel to the ground-breaking Left 4 Dead on what could only be considered an accelerated schedule for normal developers (and an impossibly accelerated schedule for Valve) we had every right to be shocked. Valve answered this concern with assurances that Left 4 Dead 2 was an entirely new game, with changes that could not be simply grafted onto the original. And the team was right! ... But that's the problem.

Castaway Boy Keith was a Game Boy adventure game, much in the style of Zelda, which was set for release on the Game Boy. For whatever reason, the game actually never got published. Even weirder, Epic and Sony were involved in the development of this title. Man…when you look at all the [...]

Though The Saboteur developer Pandemic Studios is losing its 200-person staff, the company's final game has just "gone gold" across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. In a post on the studio's forums, Community Manager Mathew Everett noted that while "this has been a very difficult week for Pandemic Studios," The Saboteur will still be "available across Europe starting December 4 and throughout North America on December 8." Unfortunately, it would appear that EA (the game's publisher) has forgotten about said release dates, choosing to offer as little marketing push as possible. We wish the folks at Pandemic Studios the best and offer our condolences to those who recently lost their jobs. [Via PlanetXbox360]

Here it is, folks: your chance to beat up relatives all throughout the holiday season, albeit from the relative safeness of Tekken 6's confines! For this week's Swag Saturday, we're giving out a copy of Tekken 6 for the Xbox 360 to one lucky commenter at random who tells us which fictitious holiday character (think: Santa, the Easter Bunny) they'd like to beat up most, and with which Tekken 6 character they'd like to do so with. Fancy a battle of Kuma vs. The Tooth Fairy? Perhaps Jack-6 vs. George Washington (wait, he was real?!)? We want to hear about it! Leave a comment telling us which fictitious holiday character (Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc.) you'd like to beat up most, and with which Tekken 6 character they'd like to do so with. You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec, mostly due to the gravitational quotient of poutine) Limit 1 entry per person per day This entry period ends at 6:01PM ET on Sunday, November 22 At that time, we'll randomly select one winner to receive one copy of Tekken 6 for Xbox 360 ($60 ARV). Since we don't keep the games and merchandise we receive for review or promotional purposes, it becomes "Joyswag," which is passed along to our readers. For more info on our policy, click here.

Gamespot is reporting that Nintendo revealed to them that a few oft-requested classic titles will be added to the Virtual Console within the coming weeks. According to the report, the festivities will kick off this coming Monday, when Super Mario Kart (which has been available in Japan for approximately forever) will be added to the storefront for the standard price of 800 Wii Points ($8). Later in the holiday season, Nintendo will also reportedly drop the original Pilotwings onto the platform, then shortly after that, will also toss Super Smash Bros. into the mix. No prices have been announced for these two titles, but according to the Gamespot article, both will be released by the end of the year. That's just great. It's not like we're already drowning in huge, time-draining blockbusters. Now we've got to start perfecting our drifting and shell-flinging once again. We appreciate the gesture, Nintendo -- but your timing is rotten.

Nintendo is a very odd company. For example, let’s take some news that just turned up a second ago. The Big N has confirmed that, after years of waiting, Super Mario Kart is going to be available on the Virtual Console this coming Monday. On top of that, they’ve also confirmed Pilotwings [...]

How is Tecmo promoting Again: Eye of Providence in Japan? Well, they’ve worked out a promo campaign that likens the video game to the extremely popular C.S.I. television series. Nintendo vice president of corporate affairs Denise Kaigler recently announced via the Nintendo Minute feature on IGN that she would be vacating her position in order to spend more time with her family. In the post, she explained, "it's a fact of life that job and family often pull us in opposite directions. As regular readers of this feature know, this has proved particularly challenging for me," later adding "the time has come where I need to choose one over the other ... and I have to choose my family." We wish Kaigler the best of luck in this new venture, and hope that wherever she may end up, she retains her unconventionally sassy interviewing technique.

If you enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop-meets-Master Chief action presented in the first episode of Halo Legends (seriously, that main character looked just like Spike Spiegel!), then you may want to check out the second episode of the Spartan-themed anime premiering today on Halo Waypoint. For 24 hours starting at 12:00AM PST (about eight hours ago), Xbox Live Silver and Gold members will be able to access "The Duel" through the "all-things-Halo" hub. Microsoft also notes that this will be the last week for Xbox Live Silver members to explore Waypoint, and in turn, enjoy the weekly free episodes of Halo Legends. If you're wondering what time the show will be available for you and you don't live in North America, a full list of showtimes is available on Xbox.com.
