Come December 1, RedLynx will unleash its latest Trials HD DLC, the "Big Thrills" pack, for 400 MS Points ($5). You'll find a trailer highlighting some of the ten user-created tracks selected for the DLC right after the break.
Before Trials HD rocked Xbox Live Arcade, RedLynx was busy rocking the infotron with a series of smaller, free Java-based and paid games called Trials. Today, the Finland-based studio also announced it's making those classic Trials games from the early aughts available to all, free of charge, in one complete PC bundle. All you have to do is hit up RedLynx's Facebook page, give it a "like," then the Trials Legends download link will be revealed to you -- or, if you're too lazy to do all of that, just click this link.
Trials Legends includes 33 different tracks ripped from the classic Trials games, six different rides to whip around in, 15 different attainable ranks, a track creator tool, and a brief overview of the history of the series. RedLynx also set up a dedicated forum space for Trials Legends, in case you want to share tracks with others or simply gab about how you narrowly missed that giant shark with the odd mohawk on level 26. Yeah, he got us a few times too.

Though Rockstar released just four LA Noire screens today, they show a lot of promise. The images depict a detailed, if suspiciously tidy-looking model of LA (the cleanliness makes it look more like a period movie than real life), and even some atmospheric shadows worthy of the title.

EA Sports Active 2 may technically be a fitness game, but let me assure you: Niki, my virtual personal trainer -- she don't play.
This sequel to the hugely popular EA Sports Active for Wii expands its fitness dominion to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, stepping things up by including motion tracking sensors and delivering real-time information about your heart rate, making it the most interactive exercise title to date.

Now that Rage: Mutant Bash TV has landed on the App Store, id Software's John Carmack is already talking about what's next for the developer on Apple's iOS platform: more Rage. Specifically, a game focusing on the driving aspect of Rage on consoles and PC (shown in the above screenshot).
"I think we have a really good idea of what we can do in this format, and I'm really excited about getting onto the next game, getting onto what we can do with another slice of Rage," Carmack told Joystiq today, going on to say: "Taking some of the wasteland material and having riding along in the dune buggies, jumping over ravines, that kind of stuff. There's more graphics stuff that we can bring in and add yet another level of improvement and polish to the visuals." If all goes as planned, the game will hit iOS before Rage arrives in stores.
"I would like to do a Quake Live derivative for iOS, maybe focusing on the lightning gun, and call it 'Lightning Arena' or something, that would be a full roam-around FPS game," he also said, talking about ideas for future iOS titles from id. "I may yet push for that, because I've got things I want to try there, both from a networking technology standpoint and what we could pull out of that, but I just don't know when the hell I'm going to find time for all of this."
Delayed disorientation dissertation news now, with Valve announcing a new Portal 2 release date. Dubbed "the shortest delay in Valve history," the schedule shift sees the story-driven spatial puzzler launching on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac on "the week of April 18th, 2011." Update: April 20th in North America, and April 22 in Europe, to be precise.
Portal 2 was initially planned for holiday 2010, and then delayed until February 9th, 2011. Just think of it as a compassionate gesture -- rather than dropping a horrific, six-month delay on you all at once, it's being delivered episodically. Stay tuned!

"I have an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox Live." That's what id Software's resident technology guru, John Carmack, told Joystiq during an interview conducted today, though he admits, "I don't even know what I'd want to do yet."
"I can't use Kinect for our real games; there just isn't a place for our current FPSes on there," Carmack admitted. "But it's an interesting technology, and an Xbox Live game would be the perfect platform to do something like that on, at about the same scale of [a game for] an iOS device."
Given that he's "spent his budget" for time away from development work on Rage on consoles and PC developing Rage for iOS, and has a multitude of other projects -- mostly research-related -- simmering, it'll probably some time before Carmack even gets to decide exactly what he'd do for Kinect. Actually making the game is another matter altogether. Still, it's nice to know there's an actual rocket scientist thinking about the possibilities for Microsoft's motion-control tech. Take that, mere robot makers!
Double Fine's earnest candy collection adventure, Costume Quest, is set to receive a new downloadable add-on in December for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Gamespot has the first word on "Grubbins on Ice," which sees the soon-to-be-rotund rascals entering Repugia, the snow-dusted realm of the Grubbins. Though the turn-based combat remains the same, Grubbins on Ice will introduce new costumes and patterns, along with several enhancements for the original game.
An accompanying patch will address Costume Quest's save system (you'll now be able to save at phone posts within the neighborhood) and allow you to pause during cutscenes. Grubbins on Ice will also adjust the speed of the dialogue textsoyoucanfinishreadi-
