A portion of a NWR review...

Despite the campaign not taking more than three hours to complete, along with the final stage not taking advantage of the new weapons, From Outcast to Savior is still worth it for using the new Royal Guard class in the other modes of the game. This is one DLC pack that should keep you busy all throughout the… knight.

Coming from Takuya Aizu, President and CEO of Inti-Creates...

“Usually, in normal development, we usually create the intro stage first and then create the last stage next, and we were taught that that’s how you make good games.

That’s how we’ve been doing it in many situations, but in current days, we’ve been in situations where we’ve been asked to submit a vertical slice. So basically, if we start creating the intro first, we’re not able to show a good vertical slice.

So, what we do is—and this is what we’re doing in this case—we pick one of the normal stages and we create it, and we create it in a way that you could play it over and over again, so people can judge what the game is going to be like. And then we move on to the intro stage, and then create the last stage.

That’s the ideal way of moving, but a lot of times, the designs for the last boss comes in later during development, so sometimes we’re not able to do the ideal case of making the last boss stage after the intro boss stage, because the designs aren’t ready.”

The PSN update this fine Tuesday includes Awesomenauts Assemble and Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition for PS4, as well as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Master Reboot and NASCAR '14 for PS3. Vita gets Hatsune Miku Project Diva F, and PS3 owners can now enjoy dragons, prohibition-era crime and the ultimate pessimistic detective with the HBO GO app.

We learned about Awesomenauts Assemble late in January, and it includes seven new characters, a new map and "improved" controls, Ronimo Designer Fabian Akker said. It goes for $10 on PS4. For PS3, Master Reboot is a neon-covered, sci-fi horror game dealing with death and computer viruses, and it's $15. South Park is $60, and it speaks for itself.

Coffee Stain Studios, the indie developers behind bizarre Joystiq fixation Goat Simulator, have revealed a release date for the odd little game: April 1 - appropriately, April Fool's Day.

Alongside the release date, the developers have also revealed a bit of additional information on Goat Simulator. Thanks to the game's website we now know that Goat Simulator will only appear on PC, and that it will not feature any multiplayer functionality. While Coffee Stain Studios plans to keep the core gameplay in Goat Simulator "small and silly," the developer is working on adding Steam Workshop support so that players can create new levels for their four-legged avatars to ruin in a flurry of barnyard hijinks.

Goat Simulator has yet to appear on Steam, but Coffee Stain Studios is still allowing prospective virtual goats to pre-order the game via its website. The asking price is $10, but includes access to a beta test for those who can't wait to live out their inexplicable dreams of being antisocial livestock. [Image: Coffee Stain Studios]

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? She's currently lurking at The Strong museum in Rochester, New York. Broderbund Software founder Doug Carlston has donated company records, design documents and games for permanent archival at the The Strong's International Center for the History of Electronic Games (ICHEG).

The Strong's Broderbund Software Collection includes material documenting the creation of Lode Runner, Prince of Persia, Myst, SimCity, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, and other landmark PC releases. The collection spans Broderbund's founding in 1979 up until 1997, when the developer was acquired by The Learning Company.

The new collection supplements a previous donation of archival materials from SimCity creator Will Wright. Featured material is available for research purposes on request.

A portion of a GameSpot interview with Nintendo's Kensuke Tanabe...

"With games like Mario and Donkey Kong, the control input is such an important part of that; I think if you're trying to replicate that feeling of control that you have traditional to those games, translating those to a smart device, that's a just a really, really difficult task. Of course I'm not ignoring the fact that the marketplace is flooded with these devices and that there are a lot of games created specifically for them. Personally, as I mentioned earlier, I don't have a curiosity of or feeling of needing to create or wanting to create games for those devices. I want Nintendo games to be played on Nintendo hardware."

The following comes from Retro's Michael Kelbaugh...

"We make games, and more importantly, we make Nintendo games. That's where our emphasis is and that's what we want to do. Hardware to us is kind of secondary. We put everything we have into making great games and we'll make those on whatever hardware Nintendo supports. What we're focused on is just making a great game. Wherever it ends up, that's not our decision, so I think we need to concentrate on making great content and let Nintendo decide what box they want to put it in, how they want to package it. Watching this whole debate going on right now...I don't give it a whole lot of thought just because I'm concentrating on making a fun, great game and hardware's always kind of a revolving target I guess."
