Hey everyone… cort dropping in to share a new trailer for Super Mario Galaxy 2 in glorious HD. It coincides with a play session I had yesterday at Nintendo’s office and shows off some new power-ups like Rock Mario and Light Yoshi, plus footage of some new levels that I got to play through. Look [...]

MM
I came.
hawkofrawk
I noticed the levels look more like the ones in 64. Where you could walk around the world a little more instead of having a pretty narrow path to each star.

A producer at DICE has apparently stated that the company doesn't want to "ever" charge for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 maps. According to CVG, DICE Senior Producer Patrick Bach told Xbox World 360 magazine, "We don't ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together."

Joystiq contacted DICE to confirm the quote and was told by a representative, "Unless they aren't standard maps we won't charge and there aren't any in the plan that would cost."

Unfortunately, Electronic Arts - publisher of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and ultimate decision-maker in this situation - wasn't willing to go that far, telling us, "We can't comment on the future. But we'll have more details on our DLC plans shortly." And we'll share those plans with you, dear reader. Shortly.

It appears someone has snuck a free movie onto the PlayStation Store. Armored, which is still playing in theaters right now, can be downloaded to your PS3/PSP with a minimal amount of cleverness. Go to the PlayStation Video Store and click the "Search" icon at the top right. Search for "Armored" and you'll find a free download of the movie, compatible with both the PSP and PS3. If the price of entry (free) isn't incentive enough, consider this: the cast features Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne. That's gotta count for something right? See the trailer after the break. [Thanks, Ryan!]

wat? didn't this movie just come out in the theater?

#wii Don't let the first 30 seconds of this new Metroid: Other M trailer fool you. Wedged in the middle of more pre-rendered Samus Aran action is actual gameplay of the new Wii adventure (and *ahem* Zero Suit Samus footage). More »

#famicomwars Advance Wars works well as a video game. But as a board game? Yeah, looks like it works pretty well as a board game, too. More »

The person who drew this picture could've spent the time that he did drawing this picture to draw more rule 34 of Bayonetta and that overall is to disappointing to even appreciate this.

The next system software update for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system will be released on April 1, 2010 (JST), and will disable the “Install Other OS” feature that was available on the PS3 systems prior to the current slimmer models, launched in September 2009. This feature enabled users to install an operating system, but due to security concerns, Sony Computer Entertainment will remove the functionality through the 3.21 system software update.

In addition, disabling the “Other OS” feature will help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system.

Consumers and organizations that currently use the “Other OS” feature can choose not to upgrade their PS3 systems, although the following features will no longer be available;

  • Ability to sign in to PlayStation Network and use network features that require signing in to PlayStation Network, such as online features of PS3 games and chat
  • Playback of PS3 software titles or Blu-ray Disc videos that require PS3 system software version 3.21 or later
  • Playback of copyright-protected videos that are stored on a media server (when DTCP-IP is enabled under Settings)
  • Use of new features and improvements that are available on PS3 system software 3.21 or later

For those PS3 users who are currently using the “Other OS” feature but choose to install the system software update, to avoid data loss they first need to back-up any data stored within the hard drive partition used by the “Other OS,” as they will not be able to access that data following the update.

Additional information about PS3 firmware updates, including v3.21 (once it becomes available), can be found here:
http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/index.htm

PS3 owners who have further questions should contact Consumer Services:

Such BS. They just think hackers might upset the MPAA.

Shrowser
They're getting rid of it because the guy who successfully hacked the PS3 used Linux to his advantage somehow.

#hotflashes This game's called Run Jesus Run/Ten Second Gospel, and it was created by Paolo Pedercini. It's pretty simple: you're Jesus, and you've got ten seconds to clear a short stage, performing whatever the relevant bible passage calls for. More »

We actually already knew about these, thanks to some hackers out there that sifted through the content of Mega Man 10. Now Capcom has officially announced the details, and given us a date as to when these goodies will be up for grabs. We’re very excited to announce the special time attack stages and bosses [...]
Fallen Shade
these better not be time attack oriented like Fakeman's stage in MM9 or I'm going to be pissed.
