We're using Fantasy Grounds II. I do not know if the version number matters, but I am using 2.6.3. The program costs money, buy it, pirate it, I really don't care. There is no set time, I will notify you all by Cbox once I've gathered the Steam chat regulars that will be playing. If you can not be there, don't worry, we will likely manage with however many players we do manage to get together.

Those freebie NES games you get from the 3DS "Ambassador Program" on September 1 will be bare-bones at first, but a future update will bring some extras. Nintendo told IGN that after the paid versions of those ten games show up on the eShop "later in the year," the free versions will be updated at no cost.

The upgrades will include "additional features such as multiplayer simultaneous play," which is kind of a big claim, since not even the Game Boy Virtual Console games sold now have multiplayer functionality. Nintendo didn't detail any other changes, except to say that 3D isn't one of them. The games won't be remade as 3D Classics.

The list of NES games announced includes Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and The Legend of Zelda. These and five more unknown games will be included in the Ambassador Program. Ten Game Boy Advance games will follow later in 2011.

Too bad it won't be online multiplayer.  And why just NES games?  So much potential yet Nintendo always comes up short.

Furthermore, a kenku gains a +4 bonus on attack rolls against an opponent flanked by an ally (instead of the normal +2 bonus).

First, download the source books we are using. I have listed the source books I am allowing in the other topic, and you can find the character generator there as well.

Read through the Player's Handbook to learn how to play. After this, read through the races and classes outlined in the different sourcebooks. Make sure the race you are looking at is playable. It will have an "as player characters" section if it is not in the playable race section of the sourcebook. Figure out which race and class you want to play, and proceed to the character generator. You may not apply any templates to your character (werewolf, half-dragon, ghost and the like), and you may not select any race with more than a +1 level adjustment. Select the "Standard" option when rolling for stats. Assign your stats based on the class you want to play. Check the box for the race you wanted to play, and the box for the class you wanted to play. Fill in any relevant information to your class, and assign your skill points. Read through the "Feats" sections of certain sourcebooks and check the boxes for the feats you want to take. Do not select any feats that are not from the sourcebooks allowed. Pick the weapons you want to use and any other gear you want your character to have (don't forget waterskins and rations, even though I probably won't pay much attention to those). If your character has skill points in Speak Language or knows other languages due to their race, check the boxes for the languages your character knows. Select an animal companion if you have one, AND DO NOT SELECT ANY TRAITS. Select a height and weight, choose their hair/eye color and other appearance options, name your character, give it a title if you'd like, make sure you give your character a decent backstory, and click "Generate Character." Post your character sheet in the other topic or in it's own topic in my board, and wait for approval.

When rolling for attacks, you roll to hit and then roll for damage. The roll to hit is 1d20+any modifiers you may have that increase or decrease it. The roll for damage depends on the weapon you are using, and whether or not you scored a critical hit

Not all classes are featured on the creator, including some of my favorites. If you are planning to use a class not on the creator then you have to do class related tings by hand.

#assasinscreed Assassin's Creed makes a surprisingly good looking retro game. Majami Hiroz reinvisioned the modern classic Assassin's Creed in 8-bit style graphics. It looks more like a 3DS 3D classic than an actual retro game, but that makes it all the more beautiful. More »

The games will include Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Balloon Fight and five more.

Additionally, Nintendo said it would give Nintendo 3DS early adopters 10 free downloads of Game Boy Advance games: Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and five more.

Nintendo says it has no plans to release these games to the general public at any time, so only those who buy Nintendo 3DS before August 12 can download them.

For the thousands of people far too embarrassed to admit they're still playing Duke Nukem Forever online, and the baker's dozen still clinging to Homefront's multiplayer suite as a mother cradles a sickly child not long for this world, there is great news: you're getting more multiplayer maps.

In the absence of any "The Rock" map pack screenshots, here is a picture of Ed Harris.

THQ announced yesterday afternoon that Homefront would be receiving a new pack, rather obviously titled "The Rock." Yes, this is the inevitable Alcatraz DLC that most assumed would be coming since everyone discovered there was a level set in San Francisco. Anyone who has seen Michael Bay's identically-titled magnum opus knows that a game set in San Francisco without a sequence featuring people fighting it out on the city's abandoned island prison is simply incomplete. It's like setting a similarly apocalyptic game in New York and not featuring the Statue of Liberty in some state of disrepair or destruction as an all-too-obvious symbol of America's once prosperous status now in ruin. That's like Visual Metaphor 101, people.

The Rock map pack will feature two new maps, Alcatraz and Bridge (the latter likely a version of Homefront's final single player level, featuring the other distinct San Francisco landmark everyone always blows up, the Golden Gate Bridge), as well as two additions to the Team Deathmatch mode in older maps Overpass and Waterway. The pack will go for $5, and will initially debut July 28th (hey, that's tomorrow!) on Xbox Live exclusively, with PSN and PC releases to eventually follow.

Guys. Guys. Guys...HATS!

Duke Nukem's new multiplayer DLC is coming a bit further down the road--thus far, all we have is a nebulous "fall" release date--but this offering does include a decent amount of content. In addition to four brand-new maps that parody other giants of the game industry (see if you can pick out what they're parodying in the descriptions below, as the subtlety of the comedy here was far too clever for my meager brain), Duke will also be getting a bunch of hats. Yes, hats. One of the maps, 2Forts1Bridge, features a bunch of hats, possibly as a method of parodying something in particular. Clearly, this makes up for the game's infantile sense of humor, dated mechanics, and mean-spiritedly misogynistic attitude. I know I'm swayed!

Here's 2K's full descriptions of the new maps, as well as the newly included "freeze tag mode."

  • Freeze Tag provides some of the most fun team gameplay in Duke Nukem Forever. Players cooperate to freeze and shatter their opponents in succession for huge point streaks and combos. See who can hold on to the babe the longest in Hot Potato and play free-for-all Duke style in Hail to the King.
  • Call of Duke: Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b.
  • Sandpit: Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Grenades.
  • Inferno: Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from?
  • 2Forts1Bridge: Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers.

Just a quick reminder that someone was paid to write those lines. Probably actual money, too.

i sure love hating duke nukem and anything it happens to touch

ok

The League Of Legends noise machine has been loud this week, with a trailer for the new patch (below) which will nerf some of the more popular heroes, but also a big boasting stats release. Here’s what they said: “As of today, 15 million people have registered to become League of Legends players. Each month, over 4 million people log in to play. And on each day, 1.4 million summoners play League of Legends together.”

Four million! That’s even more people than read RPS each month. My startling powers of logic lead me to reason that this means that some of you lot must also play League Of Legends. You have one comment thread: explain its appeal to me.(more…)
