Titanfall isn't just the name of Respawn's popular online shooter, it's also one of the most satisfying attacks in said game. Drop a titan on a pilot and the pilot becomes bloody goo. Drop one on another titan, and that titan becomes burning scrap. But what if you were to drop a titan on an enemy evac ship?

That idea is put to the test at the 1:52 mark of the above clip. While you can destroy an evac ship with a falling titan, it's not as simple as it sounds. They key problem is that a titan will fall right through an evac ship as if it weren't there. However, on certain maps, when the evac ship arrives to pick up its would-be passengers, it may fly low enough to make itself vulnerable. In such a situation, if you drop a titan right next to the ship, the splash damage from the giant robot's earthshaking impact will blow the transport to pieces, along with anyone who happens to be comfortably relaxing inside. Difficult? Yes. Totally worth it? Clearly. [Image: Respawn Entertainment]

Talk about game-breaking: apparently, if you happen to have a revivable dead body standing between you and an enemy in Battlefield 4, there's a chance that downed will eat your bullets—or worse, will bounce something dangerous like a grenade or an RPG back into your face. Read more...

GOG.com started its "Battle of the Games" promotion today, in which players can vote on which games they'd rather purchase at a cheaper rate. The sale offers two sets of three games every morning at 7:00 a.m. ET, accumulating votes throughout the day to determine which set receives a 75 percent discount and which is 60 percent off the next day.

Currently, the digital retailer is pitting the trio of Red Faction and Red Faction 2 as well as Chaser against Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament and Unreal 2: The Awakening. To get the sale started, GOG.com is also offering discounts on six games for the day: The first three games in the Heroes of Might and Magic series for $2.49 each, Blackguards Special Edition ($22.49) and the enhanced editions of The Witcher ($1.99) and The Witcher 2 ($3.99). It’s not too long now until PS Vita Pets launches in June, but maybe that’s too long? So to keep you going until then we’re launching a mobile app, PlayStation Vita Pets: Puppy Parlour.

13850731105_6e83c2da23_z.jpg

We wanted to give people the opportunity to get to know the pups in advance of the full game’s release and experience one of the core aspects at the same time, so we put together the app to allow players to run their own puppy pampering parlour. Each day a new dog will arrive into your parlour and you’ll be tasked with meeting their specific needs through a range of activities such as taking them for a walk, showering, feeding and playing a number of different games.

13851104554_cbd5ee679a_z.jpg

Games include Dream Chase, where you race to collect golden bones, and Snack Balance, where you tilt your device to keep your dog steady while it balances a tasty treat on its nose. Completing these games and looking after your pups will also earn you points that you can use to upgrade your parlour and unlock new items and clothes.

As you can see, there’s loads going on! One of the really cool things about the app is that you can unlock exclusive costumes that can be transferred over to the main PS Vita game, so they’ll be ready and waiting for your own pup in June when the full game is released.

The Android version of Puppy Parlour is available now, and the iOS version is coming next week. We’ll be back again soon with even more info on the game, so keep your eyes on PS.Blog!

Mickey Mouse tackles a remade 16-bit classic this week on PlayStation Plus, as the PlayStation 3 version of Sega's Castle of Illusion is this week's featured entry in Sony's Instant Game Collection.

Developed by Sega Studios Australia, Castle of Illusion expands on Mickey's classic platformer with new exploration elements, 3D platforming sequences, and retooled boss encounters. The result retained the playful spirit of its inspiration, earning 4 out of 5 stars in our review. The PlayStation Plus version of Castle of Illusion also includes a downloadable copy of the 1990 Sega Genesis edition of the game, previously available exclusively for pre-order buyers.

PlayStation Plus members can download Castle of Illusion for free starting tomorrow, and the bundle will remain available through April 28.

Each Monday, Chris Livingston visits an early access game and reports back with stories about whatever he finds inside. This week, space-based gathering, crafting, and dying in Space Engineers’ new survival mode.

There’s a large red and white spaceship, its front end crumpled after what must have been a spectacular nosedive. There’s a tiny yellow space engineer inspecting the wreck, armed with only a handful of tools. There’s the inky blackness of outer space, the comforting glow of a distant sun, and an asteroid field of stationary rocks, chock-full of ore and minerals to mine. As the astronaut floats there, enchanted by the view, he notices a few of the asteroids — quite a few, in fact — have given up waiting for him to visit them and taken a more proactive stance. They’re delivering themselves to him. Well, at him, anyway. In an awful hurry.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review...

Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove didn't have to be a bad game, but it unquestionably is. The gameplay is at literal odds with itself, the controls (which consist only of tapping things one at a time) somehow managed to be bungled, and the puzzles seem to solve themselves out of boredom.

Alpha gameplay footage of Road Redemption shows off the high-speed brutality players can enact on fellow motorcycle-riders on a strip of desert highway. We're not sure if the sound effects are final, but that thump when the player hits an enemy rider is already quite satisfying.

Road Redemption is a spiritual successor to the Road Rash series, and was funded on Kickstarter in May with $173,803. It's due out for PC, Mac and Linux from developer DarkSeas Games, and the alpha is available to play now for $40 (or $70 for a special edition) via the game's official site.
