Could somebody point me in the direction of the specific part of the document? That thing is huge.

Gabe will of course completely ignore Episode 3 and instead release Left 4 Dead 3. Calling it now.
Oh hey, the beta's finally out.

I'm three days behind the times, but at least the key I got from the Eurogamer Expo is worth something now.

Regarding the soundtrack CD.

Anybody else who has the soundtrack CD, is the track information wrong for you guys? I'm seeing 5 of the 8 tracks with wrong titles, the remaining three blank and all of it under the artist 'Batphone' with the year 2008. The tracks themselves match the official tracklist, but I'm suprised the CD has the wrong information on it.

Edit: Alternatively this could be Media Player and/or Zune messing with me, I'm looking into that now.

Edit2: Media Player is indeed messing around, disregard.

I didnt have any track information, I had to find the list on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qp-ypYp6rQ
Oh hey, more cheap games.

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea.
Had an idea for a game.

A first-person horror/suspense sort of thing. The game takes place in a series of interconnected rooms, each with 3-4 doors and with multiple ways to get from one location in the map to another. In order to complete the game you need to complete a number of objectives to unlock the exit (such as finding fuel for a generator that opens the last door), which will have you zig-zagging around the level trying to find and use various objects that are lying around. The only other thing in the level is a single NPC monster that randomly wanders the various rooms. When the monster is nearby the lights in the room will begin to flicker, when it is in an adjacent room and/or is about to enter your room the lights will go out completely. The monster then projects a sort of searchlight that it uses to look around the room - if you get caught in this searchlight you die instantly, but if you manage to hide from the monster it will just move on into another room. It can also hear objects if they are knocked about and can hear the player if you move without crouching or walking slowly, at which point it will actively start hunting the player in and around the area it heard the noise (if it finds nothing after a certain time, it will return to its neutral state and continue wandering). This could allow the player to throw items across the room to distract the monster, giving them enough time (hopefully) to escape. Since the player will be hiding whenever the monster is nearby they likely won't get a clear look at it, which may add to the atmosphere of the game.

Something like this may have been done before, but if it has I hadn't heard of it. This is mostly the culmination of a few days of random daydreaming, and I'm not sure if I'd be able to make something like this or even if it would be any good as a game. Still, comments are welcome.

If on the off-chance we actually do some kind of event for Halloween, we should probably sort out who's available when in advance so that timezone differences are as small a problem as possible. Post when you're free on Monday the 31st as well as the weekend before, and make sure to post your timezone. That way, if anybody does something they'll be able to work out when would be the best time to do it.

For me, I'm free 2:30pm-9:00pm Saturday, 8:30am-9:00pm Sunday and 4:30pm-9:00pm Monday, all times being GMT.

I want one.

It was Halloween, and Francis unlocked a single board on old Digi title 'Catch 50' or something like that. He also added health to the new system and two items, one dealing damage and the other healing. There might've been some other stuff in the dream but I can't remember it.

Are we doing anything for Halloween this year?

We've had events/parties in the past but that might not be as interesting considering we've got fewer members here now. I can't remember if the new system has an automated background change for Halloween either.

Suggestions? Comments? Indifference?

I will set up a game of applechomping !

So apparently it was my Digiversary a few days ago.

lugimario had the item Mushroom-PIE used on him/her.
Actions: PIE impact causes -5hp damage. At the same time the PIE is eaten off face for +5hp.

  • Onlive Microconsole (Worth around £70 from their official store)
  • Copy of PC Gamer with codes for a TF2 hat and 30 days of access to the Onlive Playpack, containing around 100 games
  • Onlive T-Shirt
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive T-Shirt
  • Code for the CS:GO beta test when it opens
  • A copy of Rift with 40 days of game time
  • A potential invite to the End of Nations beta test
  • Card saying that I got to test out the Playstation Vita
  • Inflatable Mass Effect 3 Omni-blade

In terms of games, I played:

  • Mass Effect 3
  • Assassin's Creed Revelations (Mutliplayer only)
  • Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary (Multiplayer only)
  • Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Mario Kart 7
  • Kid Icarus
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive
  • LittleBigPlanet prototype on the PS Vita
  • Trackmania 2
  • Super Pokemon Rumble

I took some pictures, if people are interested I'll upload them somewhere you can see them.

Gold Prognosticus

Regarding the codes, I used the plural because there is a code for the hat and a code for the Onlive Playpack. There's only one of each per magazine I'm afraid.

Game reviews will be posted later.

Looks like Physics just broke.

Suggestions for additional tags welcome.

Gold Prognosticus
@Francis: Doable, but the HTML code that makes the editor is pretty complicated and it might take time to make the script edit it.
Currently the tags are working, but they only have an effect in the main post of a topic, seeing as replies don't exist in the source code until the expand button is clicked. Again, this is probably fixable but complicated.

  • Computing: B (Unit 1: A, Unit 2: C)

  • English: B (Unit 1: A, Stats: C)

I'm planning on querying some of those Cs (I distinctly remember having no problems on at least the computing exams), as well as the Physics Practical.
