We heard a long, long time ago that Dragon Quest X was eventually going to see release on the PC. Now that promise is actually coming true. Square-Enix has confirmed that the title will make its way to PC in the not-too-distant future, slated for a Sept. 26th release.

The following comes from a Eurogamer interview with Eiji Aonuma.

Removed Wind Waker dungeons

"Quite honestly, those dungeons we removed we used in other games, so we can't use them in this version!"

On new content in Wind Waker HD

"I've received many questions about additional content beyond what was in the GameCube version of the game, but our desire is to stay true of the story that was in the original. If we add dungeons then that will affect other parts of the GameCube version, which we really want to stay true to.

If it felt like there were maybe too few dungeons then I feel that what was wrong with the GameCube version was the pacing. It was thrown off because it took longer to get to certain dungeons. There was a waiting period, and then when you arrived there the experience maybe didn't feel as big, as you'd waited so long to get there. We're tuning the game to alleviate all that. The pacing should feel appropriate to the overall experience this time... We need to tighten those [gaps] and make the overall experience and story feel tighter."

The following info comes from a Joystiq interview with Masahiro Sakurai.

- each version of the game has completely different stages
- cross-platform play wouldn't work
- each version will interact with one another
- take characters you've customized and transfer them to the Wii U version
- customizatios won't be costumes and they won't be something that players have to unlock
- different costumes would take away from what makes each character unique
- wants to avoid boring, repetitive tasks
- "stress free, easy connectivity" between the two versions
- no comment on level editor

Francis
He said it doesn't work because each game has different levels (yeah, dumb reason). Apparently they never planned to have cross-play, everyone just assumed it.

Masahiro Sakurai is responsible for the revival of Kid Icarus on the 3DS. Now that the character is more front-and-center in gamers' minds, where does Sakurai want things to go from here?

@cheesemeister3k I asked him about future - he said he wants someone else to do it in like 20 years lol

— Rich (@RichIGN) June 13, 2013

In other words, let the character disappear again, then have someone else come in and build him back up!

This movie despite having hardly anything to do with Mario was still pretty great. That scene where Mario goes down an ice shoot on a bed mattress with a bunch of maidens is pretty great.

Coming from today's Iwata Asks...

Today I'm here in Paris visiting a company called NERD1. The official name is “Nintendo European Research and Development SAS”, but we call it “NERD” for short. Perhaps, you may know the company by the name “Mobiclip”. Mobiclip and Nintendo have been working together for some time now, and in 2011 Mobiclip became part of the Nintendo group before changing its name only recently.

Well, there's not going to be a better Nintendo internal development name than that! Thanks to NintenDaan for the heads up.
Francis
NERR would have been better

Nintendo sent over this statement to us just now...

As part of our on-going push to ensure Nintendo content is shared across social media channels in an appropriate and safe way, we became a YouTube partner and as such in February 2013 we registered our copyright content in the YouTube database. For most fan videos this will not result in any changes, however, for those videos featuring Nintendo-owned content, such as images or audio of a certain length, adverts will now appear at the beginning, next to or at the end of the clips. We continually want our fans to enjoy sharing Nintendo content on YouTube, and that is why, unlike other entertainment companies, we have chosen not to block people using our intellectual property. For more information please visit http://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/faq.html

In other words, Nintendo has ads running on fan-made Nintendo videos that hit a certain length or feature certain content. Thanks to Nintendo for the comment!

The following comments come from Bob Summerwill Senior SE and Architect, EA Sports.

@shanselman The WiiU is crap.Less powerful than an XBOX360.Poor online/store.Weird tablet.Nintendo are walking dead at this point.

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

@shanselman Nintendo are still operating like it's 1990.They should have "done a Sega" and offered Mario/Zelda as PS4/Durango exclusives.

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

@shanselman Instead they make this awful console, and this ... nintendo.com/wiiu/downloads….Just stop it!Just make great games!

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

@shanselman It is an utterly intentional decision to focus our resources on markets which actually matter ... like mobile, and Gen4.

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

@shanselman One more :-). Nintendo platforms have always been very poor revenue-wise for third parties.Only Mario and Zelda make money.

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

@freebsdgirl @shanselman We're stuck with first-party stores on most platforms anyway. What's the alternative on PC?Paying MS or Valve?

— Bob Summerwill (@BobSummerwill) May 17, 2013

Very professional stuff coming out of that Twitter. I wonder if EA is going to say anything about this.
Francis
It's just sad that people in the industry dont have an open mind to things new or different. There's no need to be so negative. Most of what he said was just plain wrong and ignorant.
I hate the rhetoric "nintendo should just make games for other platforms". No one else makes a platform anything like Nintendo's.
Super-Claus

But guys the best games of nintendo's are on other consoles!

heh. MiiVerse is a view into what thoughts occur during a game. Priceless info to game developers I would think... or maybe it just shows how many people suck at puzzles.

Oh boy more basic stuff that should have been there on day one. Glad we can rely on one of the biggest companies on the planet to just manage what a neckbeard in a garage can do.
Super-Claus
now you're just over simplifying it.

- set in the same Hyrule as A Link to the Past
- demo dungeon included Stalfos
- you also end up dodging flying tiles
- turning into a drawing also gives you a new perspective
- Link's magic bar has stamina functions, replenishing as time passes
- magic depletes when Link uses his hammer and turns into a drawing
- also fight off reborn
- demo dungeon has a mossy-looking Moldorm as a boss
- use your hammer to smash springs, then get on top to be launched
- the X button is used for your bow
- Y for your hammer
- B for your sword
- block with your shield using L
- spin attack when you hold B
- reassign buttons for other items hasn't been confirmed, but is likely
- dungeon has multiple secret areas, hidden chests and more
- secret fairy room was hidden in the dungeon
- life potion was in your inventory
- firing an arrow requires your stamina to deplete
- demo had unlimited arrows
- use the Circle Pad to control Link
