Lost Odyssey is a turn-based Japanese Role-playing Game developed by Mistwalker, a company formed by Hironobu Sakaguchi and other former employees of Square. Lost Odyssey may not be the most progressive RPG, but it succeeds as a highly polished, enhanced version of the formula offered up by Final Fantasy X. The only real detriment to the gameplay is the presence of random battles; the combat itself, however, along with the mini-games, sidequests, and optional bosses, is highly polished.

In Lost Odyssey, you follow the story of Kaim, and immortal man who has spent the last thousand years wandering across the world. While the game's central plot isn't the greatest videogame story-telling has to offer, across Kaim's journey, he will unlock "memories;" well-written short stories featuring mature themes and genuine emotion. These short stories tend to be touching and bittersweet, making up for any flaws the main story has to offer.

As for the combat, as mentioned, it is very similar to Final Fantasy X's combat, but with the addition of a timing-based "ring" system, where depending on how you hold the trigger during a normal attack and which ring you currently have equipped, your attack will gain a bonus. Lost Odyssey's traditional battle system isn't necessarily a bad thing, however; it is highly polished, and there is plenty of strategic depth. In addition, there is a ton of optional content for added replay value.

However, where this game stands out most is the music. The game's score is composed by none other than Nobuo Uematsu, and it proves that he hasn't lost his touch. From smooth melodies to engaging battle music, the soundtrack has all of the quality you would expect from a Nobuo Uematsu score.

Ultimately, this is a good game and I suggest giving it a try.

Nothing quite says "Our game still exists!" like Interplay's volley of email messages recently sent to folks who signed up for an account on Fallout Online's official website. According to a press release issued alongside the tease, it seems that this is just the first of many "tales from the wastelands" that early registrants will receive. Additionally, registrants will be "fast-tracked" for participation in the game's private (and eventually open) beta.

Interplay's "coming soon" game page still has "Project V13" (now better known as Fallout Online) listed as a 2012 release, so, ya know, we probably won't be venturing into those wastes anytime soon. Then again, by 2012, we might be wandering in the wasteland for real.

In a recent interview with Siliconera, Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart and lead designer Nathan Chapman pondered which of Square Enix's other RPG franchises they'd like to get their hands on post-Dungeon Siege 3. Their decision was unanimous: "If I could come across everything that I played I would have to go with Chrono Trigger," Urquhart explained. "I think Chrono Trigger was one I really enjoyed."

"I think we're going with Chrono Trigger because it has elements of a Western RPG," Chapman added. "It's more open, it's still mostly linear, but there are parts you can explore more." Yeah, we guess that's a good reason to go with Chrono Trigger. You know what's another good reason to go with Chrono Trigger? How about because Chrono Trigger is the best game ever made, and every video game developer in the world secretly wants to work on the next Chrono Trigger. We think that's a pretty good reason, too.

If you were in the market for a white PS3 Slim, but didn't want one with Lightning all up on it, you're in luck! Sony Japan has just introduced a new "Classic White" system, along with a new white vertical stand and, of course, Classic White DualShock 3 controllers. The new system is outfitted with a 160GB hard drive. The 160GB PS3 will retail for 29,980 ($341).

In addition, Sony is selling the "Charcoal Black" PS3 Slim in a 160GB Torne digital recorder bundle, for ¥36,980 ($421), and a version with a luxurious 320GB hard drive (and no Torne) for ¥34,980 ($398). All of these are going on sale -- in Japan only -- on July 29. The current 120GB PS3 Slim is now going "open price," meaning retailers can drop the price at their discretion.

Given all the release announcements, new games and other such hullabaloo that's recently surrounded the PlayStation Move, we wouldn't be surprised if you've forgotten about one of the earliest titles known to support the ice cream cone-shaped peripheral: Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. Perhaps this will jog your memory: Sony Japan recently announced that the game will be bundled with the Move controller and PlayStation Eye, a package which will sell for 7,980 yen (about $90).

Sadly, zero gamers will be purchasing this particular bundle, as Sony Japan also announced the "PlayStation Move BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack," a commanding package which includes Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Dead Storm Pirates and Time Crisis 4: Arcade Version. Of course, this bundle costs 11,980 yen (about $136) and features three games that, even when combined, aren't as good as RE5 -- but still! It's the BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack. How are we supposed to say no to that?
