Sonic: The Lost World, the next Sonic game, will launch exclusively on the Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said today in a Nintendo Direct video. It's part of a new Nintendo-Sega partnership.

What do you think? Are we looking at people that are legitimately stuck or are they just goofing? Thanks to Shaun for the heads up!

heh. MiiVerse is a view into what thoughts occur during a game. Priceless info to game developers I would think... or maybe it just shows how many people suck at puzzles.

Is this one of them "puzzle" things I hear about? I don't get those in my super mayro bros.

When we first launched the Workshop back in 2011, we had no idea what the TF2 community was capable of. As the hats, beards, boots and hairdos started rolling in, we realized there was a huge well of creativity out there. But we didn’t appreciate just how deep those waters ran until the community-made updates started appearing. Now we've finally gotten to the point where we're able to shine a well-deserved spotlight on your efforts, starting with the Robotic Boogaloo Update, which includes 57 new items—the most community items we've ever shipped at once. Currently the items are only available in RoboCrates, which will become rare drops after June 3rd.
This update is 100% created by the TF2 community. And when we say everything, we mean everything—the in-game content, the update hub website, the animated short, the comic, even the splash images in the Steam store. Even better, everything you created avoided the classic trap of using other companies’ intellectual property. (Those of you working on a Darth Vader Pyro mask, we've got some bad news for you.) Plus, in a first for the Team Fortress economy, all the creators of the Robotic Boogaloo Update have decided to share the revenue earned from the sale of RoboCrate Keys. That means that everyone involved will be profiting from this update, not just the people making hats.
This doesn't mark the end of Valve-produced TF2 updates, by the way. As far as we’re concerned, there's plenty of room for both to happily co-exist. We're in uncharted territory here, and it's exciting to be exploring it with you. Amazing work, everyone!

I think The Weather channel has been using this music since the 80's. Interesting coincidence though... the Street Fighter II composer left Capcom to go work for Square (the game company, not the band).

Nintendo's Luigi-centric remake of New Super Marios Bros. is hitting the Wii U in two varieties this summer. Owners of the original game can download New Super Luigi U for $19.99, while folks that may have say, traded in their original copy already, can purchase the game as a standalone product for $29.99 on August 25. During today's Nintendo Direct it was also revealed that that annoying bastard Nabbit from the original release would be filling Mario's shoes as the fourth playable multiplayer character in the game. He can't power-up, but he also doesn't take damage from enemies, so yeah — there'll be plenty of fighting over him.

Francis
I wonder if that means it's the same thing and you are just getting a discount for already having NSMBU. Would be nice if I can play the Luigi DLC without needing the game disc.

Yume Kojo could be a sub-title since it was the name of the Fuji event, but "Dream Factory" seems like a more fitting name (the game is a dream after all, with Wart standing next to some machinery) than "Heart-Pounding Panic"... I mean it's not that exciting.

One of the first publishers to dabble in the idea of an "online pass" - whereby gamers were charted a fee for accessing certain online content if they purchased a title pre-owned - has decided to do away with the program. EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg has told VentureBeat. “Yes, we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new EA titles will include that feature.” Interestingly, Reseburg claims the decision is based on consumer feedback. “Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format. We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.” EA kills its controversial Online Pass program [VentureBeat]

Steam Trading Cards are the next 10-gallon hats from Valve. If you understand that line, then the rest of this story will make sense to you. If not, then you have every right to scratch your head and ask "Why?" to everything that follows.

In beta starting today, Steam Trading Cards allow users to earn Steam rewards for playing games. The current line-up of participating games is Don't Starve, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and Half-Life 2. Users will earn game-specific trading cards that can be collected to earn "game badges, profile backgrounds, emoticons, coupons, and more."

Here's the simplest way we understand it: Create trading Card sets > craft badges > get prizes listed above. There's more details on the Steam Trading Card site.

Greetings PlayStation.Blog. Today we’re really excited to announce that Gran Turismo 6 will be released Holiday 2013. The news was revealed today by legendary GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi himself at our Silverstone event held to celebrate 15 years of the 70-million-selling series.

GT6 for PlayStation 3 will see many enhancements, improvements and additions to the game. bringing new levels of authenticity to ‘the Real Driving Simulator’. Features revealed today include stunning new tracks and cars and an overhauled user interface. There’s also a new engine, which will improve game operation. Meanwhile, we are set for expanded connectivity with other devices, and increased social and community functions.

The cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 5 — which has now sold over 10 million copies since launching in 2010 — will return in GT6, but notable new additions will bring the car lineup to over 1,200. Players will also be able to customize their rides to a greater extent than ever before.

Amongst the track line-up, the UK’s famous Silverstone Circuit will be just one of seven new locations in Gran Turismo 6, taking the total to 33, with 71 different layouts available — 19 of them brand new. This already impressive lineup of cars and tracks will be added to by future DLC drops beginning after launch.

Enhancements and improvements also extend to a much-improved course maker function, which will provide several kilometers of gorgeous scenery, including the magnificent backdrop of Andalucía. The course maker will also include a new GPS data feature, which will increase the freedom of track creation in the game.

“It is amazing to think that it is 15 years since we first released Gran Turismo,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, during the announcement at Silverstone Circuit. “Things have changed a lot since then and now Gran Turismo 6 is a further evolution of my dream. We’re pleased to deliver GT 6 to PlayStation 3 as we have a very loyal community on that platform. However, we have refactored the game to make it very flexible and expandable, with a view to making many future developments.

“I am very pleased with everything about the new game and the new additions, but the launch will only be the beginning for GT6. The game will continue to develop throughout its life. I already have many ideas for things I want to achieve in the next 15 years of Gran Turismo!”

Further news about Gran Turismo 6 will be revealed at the forthcoming E3 and Gamescom events, and on www.gran-turismo.com.

On June 21st (on a friday), i'm considering hosting a summer movie night for all of you. why the 21st? well, it's the official start of summer. plus, it gives plenty of time to prepare all this, and plenty of advance notice for all of you. i don't know what time that day i'll be starting the event but i figure it can be figured out in this topic. i know we've got a few people overseas in england and australia and all that, so we'll have to work out a good time where the most amount of people can be there at least for part of the time. it'll take place on livestream as usual, since that's the easiest for me to show stuff on. you have to sign up to use the chat but it's no big deal, it takes like one minute. if it's going to annoy you when it's time for the stream, sign up ahead of time (but make sure you don't forget your login info and get all butthurt over it). why even have this event? well, it doesn't hurt to spend time with friends, and plus many of us will have lots of time to do whatever over the summer. it's also going to be my last 100% free summer, since i'm off to school in august. you might be asking, "what do I need to do"? well, here's a list of things that i need YOUR help with;

- arranging a time of day to hold the event where most people can attend

- suggesting YOUR favorite movies or movies you're interested in seeing that day

- helping me decide how many movies should be shown

- suggesting short intermission music or videos (no more than 5 minutes)

- deciding on backup dates for the event in case something happens where I or other people will not be able to do the event

- letting me know who is interested in doing this sort of thing (this event will not happen if there isn't more than 2 people attending, there's no reason for me to set up my computer to stream for roughly 5 hours or more if there's not enough people)

Another thing to note, if your movie suggestion is something that most people (think about someone other than yourself for once) would be really bored by, I will not be featuring it in the stream. Your movie doesn't have to be summer themed, it can be of any genre/topic. I will be checking up on your movie before deciding to show it (watching the first few minutes and such) so someone's porn or something too gorey/gross for most people to handle(i am germophobic so let's not show something where i'm going to get a panic attack) or something boring doesn't slip through.

Also be warned that this does take some cooperation from a lot of you, so if people just don't suggest things or there aren't many good things to show for a stream or no one comes to it, this event won't be happening.

Funny gold and I were just talking about our favorite B movies

Creature(1998)
The Faculty
Mars Attacks!
Two-headed shark attack
Sharktopus

Blade Runner: The Final Cut, as the original theatrical version is shit. Blade Runner is an epic science-fiction masterpiece and shining example of modern film noir that pretty much codified the cyberpunk genre on film
Deus Ex, Final Fantasy VII, Ghost in the Shell (and by extension the Matrix) would all never exist if it wasn't for Blade Runner

So I tapped it on its head and its face "unfurled," revealing it was scrunched up to look like a pug dog's face. As it unfurled, it took the shape of a sheep's head and finally a pit bull's head. But the pit bull's head was all wavy and wobbly and soft, like a soggy waffle, and it was lacking eyes, and bloody/fleshy strawberry milk-coloured liquid was oozing from its toothless jaw and its eyes, and it looked like it was about ready to collapse into a liquidy mess, so I went over and squished its head back to the compact pug dog-looking shape again

Drinking deprives you of rem which is responsible for how much you dream, however instead of losing dream time you actually make it up on subsequent naps making it more likely for you to have bizarre dreams like this since your body is making up for all the nights you didn't dream.

Hello!

My name is Justin and I used to frequent this forum in 2007 (albeit I never got around to posting very much, but I still lurked quite a bit.) My original username was Whackaweed and you can see my original introduction here: http://digibutter.nerr.biz/viewtopic.php?t=39089 which is blatantly amusing looking at it six years later. Ahh, memories!

I left this site after the old boards were removed because I didn't grok the new layout too much. I still prefer using more "traditional" message boards (e.g. SMF and vBulletin.)

I'm surprised to see this site still exists and that it is still somewhat quite active. The duration and extent of assiduous effort you guys have spent and put into this fascinates me. It's amazing. :-)

So uhh... where was I..? My hobbies are music and computer programming. I know mainly Ruby, Java, and C, although I've experimented with other languages too. I'm going to university in about a year (yes, I was underage when I registered) and I'll be most likely studying computer science.

By the way, have you considered using IRC instead of the chat box? I could rant all day about the superiority of IRC although most of you will probably be appalled by my somewhat subjective reasoning, so I guess I'll leave that to another post.

I hope I'll get to talk to some of you guys sometime.

Francis
welcome back! right before I totally change things up again, ha.
IRC is fine for simple chat but I have some bigger ideas. Most people here prefer to chat on Steam anyways.

Hi there, I'm Gold Prognosticus. You joined roughly a month after I did, but it seems you lurked a touch more than me. Either way, welcome back to the site, it's always good to have another programmer on here :)
